Signal Integrity Engineering Manager – Cable Backplane Systems
Location: Austin, TX / Remote
Responsibilities
Guide a team of signal integrity engineers developing advanced cable‑backplane systems. Communicating and working with customers and internal product managers to understand product requirements/performance specifications and convert those into new product designs, production tooling, manufacturing processes, qualification testing, and the transfer to volume production sites.
Develop efficient simulation methodologies to assess worst‑case performance under manufacturing variability.
Drive Signal Integrity validation test strategy for new technologies partnering across teams to prevent SI issues from affecting product performance and schedule.
Collaborate with internal teams and global customers to define product performance and ensure engineering excellence. Coordinating with peers and other engineering managers within the organization to share best practices.
Drive technology and product roadmaps, presenting vision and solutions to key stakeholders.
Mentor and coach engineering team members, fostering technical growth and clear communication.
Share best practices across teams and champion continuous improvement in design methodology and workflow.
Solve high‑speed design challenges including signal integrity, simulation, test methodologies, and production ramp‑up support.
Supporting Sales and Applications Engineers to develop strategies for product break‑in at existing and new accounts based on signal integrity and electrical engineering expertise.
Supporting global factories for ramping up production; advising methods and experiments of builds, measurements, establishing test limits.
Qualifications
BS in Electrical Engineering, M.S. preferred.
Experience in Engineering Management, proven experience managing high‑speed signal integrity engineering teams.
Experience with engineering simulation and analysis tools, such as Ansys HFSS and Designer, CST Microwave.
Experience with engineering measurements and debugging, such as TDR, VNA, pattern generators, error detectors.
Experience in component design and application of high‑speed cables/connectors into communications equipment is a plus.
Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to align cross‑functional teams toward common goals.
Technical Skills
Experience in designing, simulating and measuring complex high‑speed interconnect systems spanning thousands of links.
Experience in SerDes equalization architectures and hands‑on debugging of SerDes performance issues.
Strong proficiency with Channel Operating Margin and/or IBIS AMI simulation EDA tools (Keysight, Cadence, Mathworks, etc.) and their methodologies, modeling inputs and application for design and debug of 56G/112G/224G/448G PAM4 designs.
Skilled in full‑wave 3D‑EM modeling using industry tools like HFSS, Clarity, or CST.
Solid foundation of transmission line and electromagnetic fundamentals relative to signal integrity and power integrity.
Hands on experience with lab equipment including TDR, VNA, BERT, PNA.
Leadership & Collaboration Skills
Strong facilitation and team‑building skills; the ability to integrate the needs & skills of many functional disciplines to achieve a positive outcome.
Attention to detail while maintaining perspective on top‑level goals.
Ability to prioritize work to meet objectives and to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Ability to articulate, outline, and follow a development process.
