
Radiology Technologist PRN

We have an exciting opportunity for a PRN Radiology Technologist with Del Sol Medical Center.
Position Summary
Under the direction of a Radiologist, the Radiology Technologist performs radiology procedures at a technical level requiring independent judgement and ingenuity, without constant supervision of technical detail. The technologist selects and operates equipment, chooses proper technical factors, loads film cassettes, and develops film as required. The technician transfers and positions patients for examinations, provides immobilization and protection as prescribed, and assists physicians with contrast media, sterile procedures, and other duties.
Essential Functions
Selects and operates equipment, selects proper technical factors on an individual patient basis, selects and loads proper film cassettes, using film markers correctly and consistently, and develops film as required.
Transfers and properly positions patients for examinations to obtain desired radiographic results, according to physician specifications.
Assists physicians in performance of examinations by mixing and pouring contrast media, administering opaque media, holding and turning patients, assisting in sterile procedures, and other related duties.
Performs a variety of clerical tasks including inputting/editing exams and completing requisitions before sending images to the radiologist.
Receives verbal orders for examinations from a responsible practitioner in keeping with the state license.
Demonstrates customer service and service‑plus principles and behaviors appropriately.
Other duties as assigned.
Education Required and Preferred
Associate Degree or equivalent in Radiological Technology required.
Must have been either “Grandfathered” by the state of Texas or passed with a certificate from a Radiology program accredited by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists, American Society of Registered Technologists, and American College of Radiology required.
Licensure/Certification
Texas Department of Health MRT certification required.
Current BCLS certification required.
ARRT registered required or registry eligible.
Experience Required or Preferred
Comprehensive knowledge of anatomy, positioning, radiographic techniques, and radiation protection concepts and techniques required.
Knowledge of radiographic physics and medical terminology required.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
Reads and writes basic English, with the basic skills necessary to interpret physician’s orders.
Ability to lift in excess of 100 pounds with assistance from other staff.
Knowledge of department, hospital, and universal infection control policies.
Effective communication and listening skills.
Must attend all department/hospital‑mandated classes such as infection control, fire, safety, etc., in a twelve‑month period.
Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.
