Ready to move your career forward? As a Technician at Penske, you’ll perform preventative maintenance and repairs of all levels on the newest and best maintained fleet of vehicles in the industry. You help customers keep their vehicles in shape and on the road.
As a Technician II you are a respected technician, trusted to work independently on major and minor repairs, performing road tests to diagnose problems and completing maintenance tasks. You set an example and informally mentor new technicians while continuing to grow your skills.

Main Responsibilities

Ensure vehicles are maintained and safe for customers.
Perform preventive maintenance services on truck and trailer equipment with little or no supervision and in a timely manner.
Repair and troubleshoot components such as engines, transmissions, differentials, turbochargers, fuel system components, etc.
Keep the work area clean and safe.
Use Penske’s tools and technologies to log, research, and complete repairs, including basic vehicle diagnostics.
Learn new skills through Penske’s technician training.
Work on other projects and tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

3 years of practical experience with vehicle maintenance required.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair preferred.
Specialized training and experience in diagnosing/troubleshooting major components (engines, transmissions, differentials), OEM training courses, ASE Certification, and 608/609 certifications preferred.
Experience using diagnostic equipment, hand tools, and power tools.
Valid driver’s license required.
Problem‑solving ability.
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Team player.
Willingness to work in non‑climate‑controlled conditions.
Basic computer skills.
Ability to understand and comply with specific instructions, guidelines, rules, and regulations established by management.
Ability to perform all work in accordance with DOT, OSHA, and Penske safety and maintenance policies.
Regular, predictable full attendance is essential.
Required DOT and driver qualification file maintenance, including MVR check, DOT physical, safety performance history, CDL requirements, and drug screening.
Willingness to travel within the district, work required schedules, submit to background and drug screenings.

Physical Requirements

Move frequently, stand, walk, climb, bend, and sit for extended periods.
Use hands on a routine basis to grasp, reach, touch, handle, and operate tools.
Work safely at heights using ladders and elevated platforms.
Operate in all weather conditions.
See and hear to navigate workplace safely.
Regularly lift or move up to 50 lbs (23 kg) and occasionally up to 100 lbs (45 kg); push/pull truck tires exceeding 100 lbs.
