Groundperson
The Groundperson is responsible for gathering and feeding brush & debris into a woodchipper, scanning areas for trip and fall hazards, and ensuring other workers stay out of the path of travel. They also maintain equipment and materials.

Job Type:

Full‑Time, Non‑Exempt.

Pay:

$19.07 to $23.15 per hour.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

Operate chainsaw to cut brush, logs, and stumps of larger trees.

Drag, gather, and feed brush into wood chipper.

Service vehicles and equipment, keeping them neat, clean, and in mechanical order.

Minimum Qualifications

Must be 18 years of age or older.

Must be willing to join the local union and pay union dues.

Education & Experience

High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

Entry‑level position; no experience required.

Previous experience is a plus.

Pre‑Screening

Offer may require pre‑employment drug screen, background check, and/or MVR check.

License & Certifications

Valid driver’s license required.

Physical Requirements

Rare (≤10%): Sitting, crawling, climbing poles, color vision, climbing ladders, climbing stairs.

Occasional (≤33%): Stooping, kneeling, squatting, body twisting, sense of touch, climbing on/off truck, gripping, lifting 10–50 lbs., reaching, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing ladders, balancing, lifting >50 lbs.

Frequent (≤66%): Standing, walking, manual dexterity, seeing distant, hearing‑speech range, depth perception, climbing stairs, lifting up to 10 lbs.

Continuous (≤100%): Sense of touch, gripping, seeing, carrying, pulling.

Safety

Work around hazardous equipment.

Work around excessive noise; hearing protection required.

Work in all temperatures and weather; exposed to plants, insects, dust.

Work on uneven ground.

Work around falling limbs with protection.
