Job Summary
Oversees and performs laboratory work related to studies in vision research. Maintains research records, communicates effectively with laboratory members, and collaborates within a team. Assists with ordering supplies and maintains a safe, organized laboratory environment.
Responsibilities
Communicate with patients, clinicians, and nurses to obtain written informed consent from recruited subjects.
Extract subject data from patient charts and maintain administrative binders and clinical databases.
Ensure compliance with Institutional Review Board (IRB) requirements.
Transport clinic-collected samples to the lab and store them in -80°C freezers.
Collaborate closely with the Principal Investigator on research projects and experimental design.
Conduct data analysis and contribute to manuscript preparation.
Supervise junior lab members.
Assist the Principal Investigator with writing publications and grant applications.
Perform additional job-related duties as assigned by the Principal Investigator.
Required Qualifications
Master's degree in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology, or related life science, with research experience in basic science or clinical laboratories.
OR Bachelor’s degree in a related field with a minimum of three years of research and/or clinical experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant computer software/databases.
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Detail-oriented and focus on maintaining confidentiality.
Shift / Salary / Benefits
Shift: Days, Monday‑Friday (outside normal business hours may be required).
Salary: Minimum $45,400 annually; pay band B8 with potential for commensurate pay within range.
Position funded through external sources; continued employment contingent upon funding availability.
Benefits: Health, dental, and life insurance; Teachers Retirement or Optional Retirement Plan; vacation, sick leave, and 13 paid holidays.
Eligible employees may be considered for the Tuition Assistance Program after six months of employment.
Conditions of Employment
Successful completion of a background check.

Motor vehicle reports for positions requiring university vehicle use.
