Role Overview
As a Financial Counseling Associate, you will counsel uninsured and under‑insured patients to secure funding sources for their medical services, explain financial options and obligations accurately and compassionately, and navigate Medicaid and other funding programs.
Responsibilities
Counsel uninsured and under‑insured patients to obtain a paying funding source for medical services.
Explain financial options and obligations accurately during counseling sessions held directly with patients.
Use multiple systems to process patient applications and maintain accurate records.
Communicate complex coverage enrollment information with patients, ensuring application assistance is effective and efficient.
Maintain empathy, trust‑building skills, and attention to detail while discussing sensitive financial situations.
Participate in R1 training and leadership development programs to gain essential knowledge.
Adhere to required vaccinations, drug testing, and background check protocols.
Requirements
High School Diploma or GED.
Excellent customer service skills.
Compassionate communication.
Ability to multitask and navigate multiple systems.
Understanding of Medicaid and other funding programs.
Previous experience as a financial counselor with a background in medical terminology, understanding of state and federal assistance programs, or relevant healthcare experience is preferred.
Compensation
For this US‑based position, the base pay range is $15.35 – $23.13 per hour. Individual pay is determined by role, level, location, job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
