Job Summary
Sunflower Bank, N.A. is looking for an energetic, highly motivated individual to fill the position of a full-time Accounting Associate at our Salina, KS location.
Responsibilities
An Accounting Associate is responsible for vendor setup, processing invoices, expense reports, and payments to ensure they are within the company’s guidelines. The goal is to ensure proper documents are kept, unauthorized use of the company’s funds is prevented, expenses are coded and paid correctly and timely.
Scan & process documentation and invoices into Metaviewer System.
Utilize control procedures to protect the organization while processing invoices from receipt to payment, including vendor setup and maintenance, coding invoices, and obtaining approvals.
Process employee expense reports, including verification of receipts and coding.
Ensure all accounts payable policies and procedures are adhered to, including travel and related expenses, vendor approval and invoice processing.
Responsible for imaging and record retention of all accounts payable documents.
Work with vendors for necessary documentation and confirmation of changes.
Provide accuracy review of Accounts Payable payments.
Comply with and maintain understanding of bank policies, procedures, and banking regulations.
Maintain confidentiality of internal and external customer information as well as company information.
Maintain effective business relationships with those with whom business is conducted, both inside and outside of the bank.
Perform the job in accordance with applicable industry laws and regulations and the policies and procedures established by the company.
Uphold Fair and Responsible Banking practices and Code of Ethics and Conduct guidelines.
Understand and participate in the Bank’s Community Reinvestment Act program.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Must possess working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and willingness to learn new systems.
2 years of experience in office accounting setting.
Accounting experience preferred with attention to detail and neatness.
Ability to offer and communicate findings with other accounting and managerial staff.
Experience and sensitivity in working with and maintaining confidential information.
40 WPM typing required and 10-key by touch preferred.
Pay
Pay is dependent on knowledge, skills, abilities, experience, and location.
Working Conditions
The physical demands of this position require the ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation. Employees may spend extended periods sitting or standing, using hands to operate computers or other equipment, and reaching for work‑related tasks. Regular walking may be required, along with occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, or climbing. The role may involve lifting or moving items weighing up to 10 pounds. Vision requirements include close and distance vision, colour and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
