Summary of Duties and Responsibilities
Pharmacists are to provide pharmacy services such as filling prescriptions, compounding and dispensing pharmaceuticals, counseling patients as well as medical practitioners regarding medicines. Pharmacists are responsible to ensure safe, proper, and cost‑effective usage of medicines.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Prepares and dispenses the prescribed medicines to medical practitioners or patients.
Counsels health care providers or patients regarding drug interactions, indications, drug dosage and side effects.
Makes proper decisions concerning the generic and therapeutic substitution of medicines that are prescribed.
Provides information or knowledge on other drugs or pharmaceuticals as appropriate.
Provides training and guidance to pharmacy support personnel throughout the course of their work and monitors their performance.
Manages the acquisition and disbursal of medicines to various clinics, offices and other sites.
Establishes and maintains methods and style of storage and record‑keeping systems for providing safekeeping of pharmaceuticals.
Supports Variety Care’s accreditation as a Patient Centered Medical Home. Provides leadership and works with all staff to achieve the “Triple Aim” of healthcare reform—to improve the experience of care, improve health outcomes, and decrease healthcare costs.
Embodies the strength of personal character. Places value on being an open and honest communicator who displays high moral and ethical conduct, integrity, adaptability, and sound judgment. Must be a leader in the department and community. Result‑oriented problem solver who is responsible and accountable.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Essential Functions
Able to lift at least 25 pounds.
Able to walk, bend, lift, and remain on feet for extended periods of time.
Requirements, Special Skills or Knowledge
Pharm.D. / Doctor of Pharmacy.
Must be licensed and in good standing with the Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy.
Strong commitment to customer service and willingness to provide some clinical services.
Experience in ComputerRx system.
Knowledge of related certification and accreditation requirements.
Experience training and supervising assigned staff.
Experience maintaining quality, infection or safety control standards.
Experience working with multiple demands.
Preferred Requirements, Special Skills or Knowledge
Retail pharmacy experience preferred.
