Inova Fair Oaks Hospital is looking for a dedicated Registered Nurse Unit Supervisor. This role will be Full-Time, Nights shift (32 hours per week).

Job Responsibilities
Conduct high quality shift huddles by communicating strategic priorities related to target, actual and gap barriers in addition to small tests of change, results of rounding, challenges, celebrations and other matters.
Conduct effective safety huddles and appropriately delegate all environmental and safety rounding; ensure that patient, medical director and RN rounding is completed for areas of responsibility.
Round on staff continually and serve to remove or elevate barriers to providing quality care while enhancing staff engagement.
Review core measures, key performance indicators and other metrics relevant to unit/patient populations and participate in the analysis of unit-based service outcomes as well as development of action plans that lead to systematic improvements in outcomes.
Participate in emergency and safety preparedness drills/trainings as required.
Participate in simulation labs and operating room safety stand‑downs.
Ensure adherence to The Joint Commission standards that are relevant to areas of responsibility and ensure that team members are knowledgeable of related standards.
Contribute to professional decision making to support and/or implement unit based quality improvement work and strategic outcomes.
Serve as role model to others in communication to patients, identifying concerns, diffusing potentially difficult situations and facilitating resolution.
Serve as Physician Liaison and primary information resource/contact for unit(s) of responsibility.
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure that discharge needs are in place to provide smooth transition of patient flow.
Accurately assess current state while forecasting staffing/supply needs and work to proactively resolve staffing discrepancies.
Contribute to the completion of annual evaluations as delegated by unit leadership, participate in the disciplinary process for team members, when applicable, by providing necessary input to performance deficiencies, and participate in the interview and hiring process for new team members.
Provide individual coaching and counseling to clinical staff on critical processes, standards and problem solving, communicate expectations effectively and advocate for and support the clinical staff and promote an environment of mutual trust.
May perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Certification: Basic Life Support; Inova RN Unit Supervisor and Charge Nurse Training (within 3 months).
Licensed Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Experience: 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (or Associate’s Degree RN within 1 year of completing their BSN).
