The role includes daily job site and facility inspections, hazard assessments, incident investigations, training delivery, and safety performance reporting.

The Senior Environmental Health & Safety Coordinator partners closely with general contractors, trade partners, site leadership and corporate EH&S to align Site Specific Safety Plans, Job Hazard Analyses, and Methods of Procedure with OSHA regulations and industry best practices. This individual will also implement programs to ensure compliance with environmental requirements and support environmental sustainability initiatives.

As part of this, this role will work across departments to integrate environmental considerations into daily operations and long‑term planning.

Key Responsibilities

Support and lead the development, implementation, and enforcement of EH&S policies, procedures, and programs for both construction and operational data center environments.

Assist in ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, OSHA standards, and client specific safety requirements.

Stay updated on regulatory changes and industry best practices to continuously improve the safety program.

Implement environmental programs and procedures that minimize environmental impact and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.

Conduct environmental inspections, audits, surveys, and investigations of facilities, operations, and contractors to verify compliance with permits, plans, and standards.

Coordinate and perform environmental monitoring (e.g., air, water, waste, effluent), including sampling, data entry, QA/QC, and trend analysis.

Prepare, review, and submit environmental reports, permits, and documentation required by regulatory agencies and internal stakeholders.

Provide technical guidance, training, and outreach to staff on environmental requirements, best practices, and site‑specific procedures.

Participate in incident investigations related to environmental non‑compliance, spills, or exceedances, and help develop corrective and preventive actions.

Site Safety Oversight

Conduct routine safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments across construction sites and operational data centers, focusing on high voltage electrical systems, industrial cooling equipment, confined spaces, and other high‑risk tasks.

Participate in and/or lead daily safety huddles, toolbox talks, and pre‑task planning meetings with general contractors and site teams to identify and mitigate hazards.

Ensure Site Specific Safety Plans (SSSP), Job Hazard Analyses (JHA), and site logistics plans are developed, current, and adequately address identified hazards and controls.

Provide real‑time directions to address unsafe conditions, track corrective actions to closure, and coach teams on OSHA compliance and company standards.

Training, Communication, and Culture

Deliver safety training and orientations for new hires, Applied Digital employees, and contractors, including hazard awareness, emergency response, and site‑specific procedures.

Lead safety meetings, vendor coordination sessions, and safety committee activities to reinforce expectations and promote a robust, inclusive safety culture.

Communicate safety performance, initiatives, and emerging risks in leadership and project meetings, setting the standard for professionalism and company values.

Incident Management and Reporting

Lead or support investigations of incidents, near misses, and unsafe acts, ensuring prompt documentation, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.

Maintain accurate safety records, including incident logs, training records, audits, and inspection reports.

Develop and distribute weekly safety reports summarizing man hours, safety behavior observations, hazard identification and closure, incident summaries, photos, deficiency logs, and recognitions.

Coordination with Contractors and Operations

Facilitate alignment between Applied Digital EH&S expectations and general contractor and trade partner safety programs, ensuring contract safety requirements are understood and executed in the field.

Review and validate project safety plans, emergency muster points, hazardous materials protocols, permitted confined spaces, and PPE requirements.

Ensure that contractors and vendors follow approved Methods of Procedure and pre‑task plans for critical work activities in active facilities.

Partner with construction and operations teams to ensure all work is executed against current, approved plans using industry standards and best practices.

Data Center Operations Support
Support development and upkeep of safety plans for 24/7 operational data centers, including response to electrical hazards, equipment failures, and environmental conditions.

Coordinate with site leadership to integrate safety into all operational and maintenance activities in high energy environments with high electrical loads and industrial cooling systems.

Perform other EH&S duties as assigned to support a safe and compliant workplace.
