Position Summary
The Banquet Captain is responsible for overseeing the execution of events to ensure seamless service, high guest satisfaction, and adherence to established standards. This role leads banquet staff, coordinates with the kitchen and management team, and ensures all event details are executed accurately and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
Event Execution & Service
Lead and supervise banquet staff during events (servers, bartenders, support staff)
Ensure all event details (timing, setup, service style) are executed according to BEOs (Banquet Event Orders)
Act as the primary point of contact during events for both staff and hosts
Monitor service quality and step in as needed to maintain standards
Staff Leadership
Conduct pre-shift meetings to review event details, timing, and expectations
Assign roles and sections to staff
Train and mentor team members on service standards and procedures
Maintain a positive, professional, and team-oriented environment
Setup & Breakdown
Oversee room setup including tables, linens, place settings, décor, and equipment
Ensure proper breakdown and cleanup after events
Verify all equipment and supplies are properly handled and stored
Guest Experience
Greet hosts and key guests; ensure their needs are met throughout the event
Handle guest concerns or service issues promptly and professionally
Maintain a visible presence on the floor to ensure smooth operations
Coordination & Communication
Work closely with culinary team to ensure accurate timing and presentation of food
Communicate any changes or issues quickly to management and staff
Ensure all safety, sanitation, and alcohol service standards are followed
Qualifications
2–5 years of experience in banquet or restaurant service (leadership experience preferred)
Strong leadership and communication skills
Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure
Knowledge of food and beverage service standards
Flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
Lift and carry up to 30–50 lbs
Perform repetitive tasks such as setting tables and serving
