Position Summary
The Residential Service Technician is a troubleshooter and service expert responsible for diagnosing, configuring, reconstructing, and programming existing security and site automation solutions. The role involves alleviating customer concerns, servicing fire and carbon monoxide detection, networking, hosted video solutions, and access control, as well as coordinating inspections with authorities.
Responsibilities
Provide services for fire and carbon monoxide detection, networking, hosted video solutions, and access control.
Follow and complete required processes for wired/wireless technology and connection procedures.
Test and validate system signals and communication with central monitoring to properly establish service.
Act as a customer service champion, helping customers understand and maintain their protection.
Locate and alleviate trouble with damaged equipment or wiring.
Readjust equipment, repair or replace inoperative equipment, and test for operation.
Read blueprints, building, and electrical plans to complete equipment repairs.
Prepare trouble order forms to report temporary repairs.
Coordinate inspections and/or installations with police, fire departments, or other appropriate agencies.
Qualifications
Service experience.
Technical aptitude.
Strong verbal communication.
Customer‑focused and customer‑driven mindset.
Ability to thrive in the face of uncertainty.
Valid driver’s license.
High school diploma or GED.
Minimum 2 years of experience installing and inspecting or repairing ADT or comparable product lines.
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to read building, electrical, and sprinkler plans.
Physical capability: standing, stooping, lifting, climbing, crawling.
Valid driver’s license required.
