The organization supports the development and implementation of national gender‑equality commitments, advocacy, social mobilization, capacity building, and coordination with government authorities, civil society, and the private sector.
Responsibilities and Scope of Work
Under the guidance of the UN Women Representative in Ukraine and supervision of the Programme Specialist, the National Consultant will:
Review assigned documents to assess accuracy and appropriateness of legal language
Identify inconsistencies, ambiguities, or inaccuracies in terminology and formulations
Ensure compliance with applicable national legal frameworks
Align terminology, definitions, and phrasing across documents prepared by different authors
Maintain consistency in style, structure, and legal concepts throughout all documents
Propose standardized wording for similar legal provisions or concepts
Ensure accurate and consistent cross‑references between documents
Proofread documents to correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, and syntax in Ukrainian
Improve clarity, readability, and flow while preserving the original meaning and legal intent
Provide written comments and tracked changes as needed
Address feedback from the commissioning organization and incorporate agreed revisions
Participate in coordination meetings (online or in‑person, if required)

Required Qualifications
Advanced (Master’s) degree in Law, Public Policy and Administration, Economics, European Studies, International Relations, Gender Studies, Social and Humanitarian Sciences, or related fields
At least 2 years of relevant work experience after the Master’s degree in human rights and/or gender equality, governance, public administration, civil service, or related fields
Proven understanding of human rights, gender equality, and women's empowerment, and national and international gender‑equity and women's empowerment commitments in Ukraine
Excellent proofreading and editing skills
Proven experience in reviewing and harmonizing legal, policy, or official documents
Experience working with multiple stakeholders and consolidating inputs from different authors (asset)
Experience with UN Women and other UN agencies (asset)
Previous experience with EU institutions and accession process (asset)
Languages
Fluency in both verbal and written English and Ukrainian is required
Knowledge of any other UN official language is an asset
