Overview
Riverside Healthcare is seeking a skilled and dedicated Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) to join our team in Kankakee, Illinois. As a CCMA, you will support healthcare providers during patient examinations, administer vaccines, and perform various clinical procedures. You will also manage electronic health records, schedule appointments, answer patient inquiries, and handle billing and coding. The ideal candidate is adaptable, proficient in clinical procedures, and committed to providing exceptional patient care in a dynamic environment.

Essential Duties
Patient Care
Escort patients to examination rooms and prepare them for consultations.
Assist in examinations, procedures, and treatments, ensuring comfort and safety.
Obtain and record vital signs, medical history, and chief complaints.
Perform basic medical procedures such as phlebotomy, EKG, wound care, and injections under supervision.
Administer vaccines and conduct pulmonary function tests and nebulizer treatments.
Clinical Assistance
Prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment.
Assist in minor surgical procedures while maintaining a sterile environment.
Perform laboratory tests such as urinalysis, blood glucose, and rapid strep tests.
Maintain inventory of medical supplies and medications.
Administrative Support
Schedule appointments, tests, and procedures.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic health records (EHR).
Handle patient inquiries and telephone calls promptly.
Verify insurance coverage and process billing and coding accurately.
Quality Assurance and Compliance
Follow clinical protocols, infection control measures, and safety standards.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and accreditation efforts.
Stay current with industry regulations through continuing education.
Non-essential Duties
Assist with training and orientation of new staff.
Participate in departmental meetings and special projects.
Support the healthcare team with additional tasks as needed.
Preferred Experience
Proficiency in medical terminology, clinical procedures, and basic pharmacology.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with patients and team members.
Attention to detail, organizational ability, and multitasking in a fast‑paced environment.
Experience with EHR systems and medical billing software.
Adaptability to evolving policies, procedures, and technologies.
Required Licensure / Education
Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification required.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; CPR certification may be required.
Preferred Education
Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
Pay Range
USD $20.35 – $24.85 per hour
