Job Summary
The Accounting & FP&A Intern (12-week summer program) supports the FP&A and Accounting teams with financial planning, analysis, and management reporting. The intern will help maintain budget/forecast models, analyze results, and prepare insights that inform business decisions. This role is well‑suited for a sophomore pursuing Accounting or Finance who is eager to learn planning tools such as Adaptive Planning and enterprise reporting in Workday while building practical finance skills.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Support budgeting and forecasting cycles by updating assumptions, maintaining templates, and consolidating inputs in Adaptive Planning for both FP&A and treasury.
Extract and validate financial and operational data from Workday and related sources to support reporting and analysis.
Prepare variance analyses (actuals vs. budget/forecast/prior period) and summarize key drivers, risks, and opportunities for both FP&A and treasury.
Assist with creating and refreshing dashboards, KPI trackers, and reporting packages; help translate findings into clear visuals for stakeholders.
Build and maintain Excel-based models and analyses (e.g., pivots, lookups, basic forecasting and sensitivity analysis) to improve planning accuracy and efficiency for both FP&A and treasury.
Provide light support to month‑end close activities (e.g., schedules, reconciliations, documentation) to ensure analytical reporting is accurate and complete.
Partner with team members on ad hoc analysis and process improvement projects, including documentation and standardization of planning/reporting workflows.
Qualifications and Skills
Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (target: sophomore standing).
Completed or currently enrolled in foundational coursework such as Financial Accounting and Managerial Accounting; introductory Corporate Finance/Statistics a plus.
0–1 years of related experience (internship, part‑time role, campus organization leadership, or relevant academic projects) in finance, accounting, or data analysis.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivots, lookups, basic modeling) and working knowledge of PowerPoint and Word.
Interest in FP&A and ability to learn planning systems quickly; exposure to Adaptive Planning and/or Workday is preferred (training will be provided).
Analytical and problem‑solving mindset with strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
Clear written and verbal communication skills; ability to organize work, meet deadlines, and collaborate effectively across teams.
Professionalism, integrity, and ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
