JMT’s Trenton Construction Services Team is seeking construction inspectors to apply standard inspection procedures for in‑progress and completed construction work for structural quality, general safety and conformance to plans, specifications and codes. Working hours will include night shifts.
Immigration sponsorship or support (e.g. H1B, F‑1 CPT/OPT/STEM OPT) is not available for this position, except for qualified candidates eligible for the TN visa classification.
Compensation is $30.00‑$50.00/hour, commensurate with experience, education, and certifications.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Review and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications and construction methods to ensure compliance with legal requirements and safety regulations.
Perform routine tests on concrete, soils and other materials.
Measure dimensions and verify level, alignment and elevation of structures, fixtures, grades and/or pavement to ensure compliance with plans and codes.
Gather and maintain record documents.
Prepare daily reports and quantity measurements.
Make field notes and computations.
Communicate daily with the contractor and Resident Engineer regarding status of work and issues.
Monitor project schedule.

Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills
Strong organization and communication skills.
Strong computer proficiency.
Active driver’s license; must successfully complete and pass JMT’s Motor Vehicle screening.
Required Experience
High school diploma or equivalent.
2–5 years of construction inspection experience.
Knowledge and experience in construction techniques, reading plans, procedures, methods, equipment and materials.
Experience in construction management/inspection situations relevant to the job description.
Preferred Experience
Experience with NJTA, NJDOT, county and/or municipal clients in New Jersey.
Associate or bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering or engineering technology.
Client requested certifications (NJSAT, ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician, TCC, CCTC).
Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) certification or NICET II certification or ability to obtain within the first six months of employment.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in the field. Ability to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs as needed. Work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid and dry/arid conditions.
