Position Summary:
Ballard Food Bank is hiring a Weekend Warehouse Coordinator to conduct warehouse operations during food bank off-hours, playing a key role in preparing the space for the week ahead. The Weekend Warehouse Coordinator is a member of a two-person team, working alongside a small group of volunteers to collect and process food recovery donations from our grocery partners, and support food drives and other weekend events. This is a good fit for someone who enjoys variety, working with volunteers, and creating structure in a high-use space.
Responsibilities:
Collect donations from local grocery partners, utilizing a food bank van or box truck
Provide guidance and training for weekend volunteers
Assess lifespan of recovered food and donations according to USDA food safety protocols
Receive and unload deliveries, including moving boxes of up to 50 lbs. and operating a pallet jack
Support weekend food drives and other events
Collaborate across teams to facilitate corporate volunteer events
Provide weekly updates to manager and team members
Foster relationships with community partners
Perform weekly cleaning tasks in the warehouse, including mopping the walk-in cooler
Maintain organization and cleanliness in the warehouse and parking lot
Skills/Qualifications:
Prior food handling, grocery, and/or warehouse experience in a food related environment
Experience leading and engaging volunteers, including giving feedback and guidance
Ability to foster an energizing and collaborative environment with people from diverse backgrounds
Takes initiative and works well both independently and as part of a team
Ability to handle challenges or unexpected situations with a solution-oriented and collaborative approach
Prior experience driving a sprinter van or box truck in urban streetscapes
Comfortable lifting up to 50 pounds regularly, maneuvering in and out of a van or truck, and spending most of the time on your feet
Valid US driver’s license with a clean and safe driving record

Hours:

This is a part-time position, working 20 hours onsite at the food bank on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
