Job Summary
Disassemble, repair, test, troubleshoot, examine, fit, modify, maintain, install, and determine serviceability of aircraft survival and flight equipment such as helmets, torso harness assemblies, preservers, parachutes, life rafts, chemical and biological protective devices, survival kits, oxygen masks, and anti‑G suits.
Perform operational and circuit checks of emergency signaling and communication devices such as survival radios and beacons.
Apply knowledge of mechanical and electrical repair and maintenance procedures, pyrotechnic and explosive devices, and aircraft egress systems.
Maintain familiarity with aircraft assigned to the unit, detailed knowledge of the operation and characteristics of aircraft survival and flight equipment, and demonstrate and explain proper usage and operation of the equipment.
Qualifications and Experience
Familiarity with aircraft assigned to the unit, detailed knowledge of operation and characteristics of aircraft survival and flight equipment, and ability to demonstrate and explain proper usage and operation of the equipment.
Knowledge of mechanical and electrical repair and maintenance procedures, pyrotechnic and explosive devices, and aircraft egress systems.
High School diploma or GED (mandatory).
Thorough understanding of DOD aircraft maintenance processes (preferred).
Working knowledge of computers (input/extract data).
English speaking, reading, writing, and understanding.
Must obtain or maintain security clearance, DOD CAC privileges, and Special Access Badge requirements.
Work days, nights, and weekends as required.
Current valid U.S. Driver's License.
Ability to travel.
Deal with customers and company employees in a courteous and professional manner.
Meet Government/Company licensing/qualification requirements for the position.
Graduate of Navy PR or Air Force or Army MOS Course or equivalent; ABO operator/analyst must graduate from an approved ABO school.
Minimum 3 years of related experience in aviation life support equipment maintenance.
Pass an ordinance physical and become explosives handling certified within 30 days of hire or assignment.
Familiarization with COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2 series and other applicable Navy instructions, maintenance instruction manuals, IPB's, manufacturer’s manuals and company instructions as required for job functions.
Working Conditions
Environment ranges from office to hangar and flight line and requires extensive climbing, standing, stooping, bending, pushing, kneeling, stretching, and walking demands.
