
Carolinas Water Resources Practice Lead

This Opportunity
WSP USA, Inc. is seeking a Carolinas Water Resources Practice Lead to accelerate our growth and advance our performance in water resources across North Carolina and South Carolina. This role provides leadership for a multi‑office Water Resources team across North and South Carolina, supporting municipal, agency, and private‑sector clients on complex flood resilience, stormwater, and coastal projects. Our Water Resources practice area encompasses drainage and stormwater management, green infrastructure design, coastal and fluvial resiliency, stormwater conveyance, and site civil design.
You will set the tone for culture, drive operational excellence, expand strategic client relationships, and serve as a visible water leader in our industry. In this role, you will be part of the delivery of transformational projects for municipalities, agencies, developers, and institutions in the Carolinas. Craft and implement targeted market growth strategies, aligned with our regional and global water growth strategy.
Strengthen strategic accounts and drive exceptional client care within the Carolinas water resources practice area.
Build and maintain a healthy, high‑quality 4:1 pipeline that reflects deliberate client targeting, strong positioning, and efficient use of pursuit resources.
Provide end‑to‑end pursuit leadership for key opportunities: own capture plans, positioning, and win strategies.
Provide go
o‑go decision making for practice area opportunities to align investment of business development dollars with growth strategy.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
Demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams and inspire cross‑functional collaboration.
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field.
15 years of post‑education experience in water resources engineering, with at least 10 years of related experience in the Carolinas.
Professional Engineering License (PE) in North Carolina or South Carolina.
Candidate must have strong technical writing and communication skills.
Advanced proficiency with engineering principles, practices, process, design/build, standard of care and project work‑related issues.
Excellent leadership and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with employees at all levels of the organization.
Proven history of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
Travel within the Carolinas region, with potential for travel beyond region.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in engineering or business management.
Professional Engineering License (PE) in multi‑states.
