Overview
Job#: 3029204
Job Description:
Cloud Network Engineer
Location:
Eagan, Minnesota (Remote)
Employment Type:
Contract to Perm
This position is for a strong Network Engineer with deep DNS experience to support a continuing cloud migration. The role involves developing and enforcing standards, policies, and procedures for Cloud infrastructure, bridging the gap between traditional on-premise and public cloud network infrastructures. The work is a blend of engineering (60%) and architecture (40%), with responsibilities adapting to the candidate’s strengths. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity within a senior, fast-moving team that values autonomy and proactivity.
Responsibilities
Develop a strategy for evolving the current cloud network deployment across AWS, GCP, OCI, and Microsoft Azure.
Manage cloud-native network technologies and interconnect cloud regions with the on-premise infrastructure.
Develop and enforce standards for enterprise DNS architecture, operations, and security across on-premise and public cloud environments.
Implement and manage cloud connectivity solutions, including AWS Direct Connect, GCP Cloud Interconnect, and Azure Express Route.
Utilize network automation tools such as Python, Ansible, Terraform, and REST APIs.
Maintain systems and documentation for audits and compliance, and develop customized monitoring solutions.
Manage enterprise application delivery and load balancing platforms, particularly F5 BIG IP and Infoblox.
Work independently to achieve project milestones and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Required Qualifications
Demonstrated experience as a Network Engineer with strong networking fundamentals; not "cloud-only."
Mandatory, hands-on expertise in enterprise DNS architecture, operations, and troubleshooting (authoritative/recursive design, security, traffic steering).
Proficiency with network automation using Python, Ansible, GitHub, JSON, Terraform, and REST APIs.
Experience implementing cloud connectivity solutions (e.g., AWS Direct Connect, GCP Cloud Interconnect, Azure Express Route).
Extensive knowledge of cloud-native network security techniques (e.g., AWS Security Groups, Azure Network Firewalls, GCP VPC Firewalls).
Experience with multi-cloud networking, with priority on Azure, OCI, and GCP; AWS-only experience is acceptable, but multi-cloud is preferred.
Ability to work in a self-directed manner, proactively identifying work and improvement opportunities without direct task assignment.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with enterprise application delivery and load balancing platforms, specifically F5 BIG IP.
Experience with enterprise DNS/IPAM platforms, specifically Infoblox.
Healthcare industry experience.
Work Environment
This role is part of a senior, fast-moving team that requires a high degree of autonomy. The environment is complex and collaborative, focusing on migrating resources to cloud providers while maintaining critical system availability. The position will support on-premise systems for several years while transitioning to the cloud. Onboarding will involve a period of learning the environment and systems, with a gradual transfer of responsibilities and a daytime on-call rotation.
Equal Opportunity Employer
This employer is an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, or protected veteran status and will not be discriminated against on the basis of disability.
