Overview
Zolman’s Best One Tire & Auto Care
is seeking an Automotive Repair Technician / Mechanic for our South Bend, Indiana location. Locally owned and operated, Zolman Tire, Inc. has serviced automotive, light truck, and commercial repair, tire, and wheel needs for customers in the Michiana area since 1978. We have nine retail locations and five commercial fleet locations across several communities.
We are looking for a skilled and experienced Mechanic who values safety and teamwork. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in automotive repair and maintenance, with a focus on diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of vehicles to ensure safety and reliability for our customers. Work hours are 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, Monday–Friday, with willingness to work overtime as needed.
Responsibilities
Perform routine maintenance and repairs on vehicles.
Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues using diagnostic scan tools and other equipment.
Conduct thorough inspections of vehicles to identify potential problems and recommend necessary repairs.
Replace suspension parts and perform alignments.
Maintain accurate records of all services performed and parts used.
Provide clear explanations of repairs and maintenance to Service Advisors, management, and customers when needed.
Ensure a clean and organized work environment, adhering to safety standards and protocols.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED.
2–4 years’ experience as a mechanic in the tire and service industry.
Strong knowledge of automotive systems, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical systems.
Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Customer-oriented with the ability to follow company procedures.
Honesty and integrity; motivation to achieve goals; ability to work under pressure.
Safety awareness and ability to identify and correct unsafe conditions.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
Read and interpret work tickets; document completed work and recommendations.
Work in environments with variable temperatures; PPE required (safety glasses, gloves, footwear).
Ability to hear alarms and operate in a safe, productive work setting.
Licenses & Certifications
Valid driver’s license; driving record must meet company insurance requirements.
