New York Bus Sales the largest authorized Blue Bird School Bus dealership in New York State currently has an immediate opening for a Fabrication/Collision Tech in our current Chittenango, NY location. New York Bus Sales will be relocating to Syracuse, NY by mid-Spring.

JOB SUMMARY
The Fabrication/Collision Tech has the responsibility for inspecting, designing, and welding buses that need body repair.
SUPERVISION
Close Supervision – the Fabrication/Collision Tech I employee is assigned duties according to specific procedures. Work is checked frequently, and in addition, there may be some formal training. Most assignments are completed with assistance.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Take apart and reassemble equipment.
Perform minor welding repairs or fabrications.
Maintain records of work by making notations on work orders.
Replace panels, doors, bulkheads, and stepwells.
Replace lights removed for repair.
Perform luggage box installation.
Prepare bus after repair to be sent to paint shop.
Follow all prescribed Safety methods and perform work safely.
OTHER DUTIES
Perform other duties assigned.

Requirements
EDUCATION / REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
One or two years experience in Auto Body work or related experience preferred.
NYS CDL, Class A or B driver license with Passenger Transport and Air Brake endorsements preferred, or the ability to obtain.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE / QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS / ABILITIES
Solid knowledge of 12 Volt electrical systems and all hazards related to them.
Understand oral and written instructions sufficiently to properly install or repair electrical wiring in all types of vehicles. Must be able to follow instructions written on work orders and PDI’s.
Guide or instruct customers when trouble shooting electrical issues.
Make good business decisions in accordance with established procedures and policies.
Speech and hearing sufficient for regular in person and telephone communication with customers, supervisors and other employees.
Ability to read company and industry correspondence sufficiently to understand the intended message.
Perform numeric calculations to measure amperage and voltage.
Write sufficiently to communicate to make notations on work orders and PDI’s.
Be Safety conscious and demonstrate the ability to follow prescribed safety practices to prevent injuries to self and others.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Manual dexterity sufficient for use of a laptop computer, shop equipment, hand and power tools.
Finger Dexterity sufficient to grasp and repair small wires.
Frequently lift up to 50 lbs.
Occasionally lift over 50 lbs. with assistance.
Frequently stand, walk bend/stoop, push/pull, twist, climb, crouch, kneel, crawl and reach in order to access all areas of the vehicles to work with wiring.
Ability to stand for long periods of time.
Repetitive Motion is required to twist and grasp wires.
Vision must also be sufficient to properly identify various wire colors and to properly splice wires.
