Cisco Network Engineer

Overview
We are seeking a Network Analyst to support a large-scale switch and wireless refresh project across North America. This role will focus heavily on Cisco switching and Aruba wireless, working closely with project managers, architects, and onsite rack/stack resources to technically drive switch refresh initiatives. This is a long-term contract opportunity (6-12 months) with a strong likelihood of extension based on ongoing and future project work.

Requirements: onsite work in the Energy Corridor (Houston, TX) an average of 1-3 days per week. This is not a fully remote role.

Key Responsibilities

Lead technical execution of switch and access point refresh projects.

Draft, review, and validate network designs based on published enterprise standards.

Stage, configure, and test Cisco switches prior to deployment.

Support Aruba wireless access point refreshes.

Partner closely with Project Managers, Network Architects, and onsite rack/stack deployment resources.

Provide technical oversight during deployments, most of which occur on Saturdays and Sundays.

Analyze, evaluate, and recommend improvements to IT networks based on business and technical requirements.

Ensure smooth handoffs, documentation, and adherence to standards.

Required Skills

Network engineering experience.

Strong hands‑on experience with Cisco routers and switches.

Experience with Aruba Wireless (APs and infrastructure).

Switch staging and configuration.

Network troubleshooting.

Ability to draft and review network designs.

CCNA or equivalent hands‑on experience.

Work Environment

Hybrid schedule: onsite 3 days per week (Monday‑Wednesday) in the Energy Corridor.

Occasional additional onsite presence for switch staging based on project needs.

Weekend work (Saturday/Sunday) during refresh windows.

Team consists of 7 total members: Network Engineers, Network Architect, Project Managers.

Project & Business Context

Immediate need to alleviate bandwidth strain on the core network team.

Active 12‑month switch refresh runway currently in place.

Opportunity to expand into additional network and infrastructure project types over time.

Engagement Details

Contract Length: 6‑12 months (extension likely).

Location: Energy Corridor – Houston, TX.

Onsite Requirement: average 1‑3 days per week onsite.

Travel: None beyond local office presence.

Pay and Benefits

Pay range: $63.00 – $72.00/hr.

Additional Notes
