Maintenance Worker
Scope Of Job
This position is for an enthusiastic, responsible and dedicated worker that will ensure the facilities, equipment and parish campus are safe, clean and functional. Must be able to work independently or with maintenance coworker.
Responsibilities
Conduct regular walkthroughs of buildings and equipment to identify potential issues or safety hazards.
Perform routine preventative maintenance such as replacing filters, cleaning A/C systems, cleaning gutters and roof drains to prevent breakdowns.
Handle minor electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and HVAC fixes (e.g., changing bulbs and ballasts, repairing inoperable plumbing fixtures, repairing locks and pew kneelers).
Perform custodial tasks: clean, vacuum, mop and maintain all buildings on campus (excluding Rectory).
Set up for different ministries and events in all campus buildings (tables, chairs, weddings, funerals, etc.).
Work weekday shifts, every other weekend evenings (two hours each evening) and all special events or emergencies as directed by the Pastor.
Provide cellphone and basic tools to perform repairs (screwdrivers, wrenches, drill and bits, etc.).
Qualifications And Skills
Education: High school diploma or equivalent is standard; technical certificates (HVAC, plumbing, electrical) are desired but not required.
Experience: Number of years of past work in residential or commercial fields.
Hard Skills: Proficiency with hand and power tools, program timers, ability to read blueprints/manuals, and basic knowledge of building systems.
Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving, communication, and time‑management abilities.
Physical And Environmental Requirements
Manual Labor: Ability to bend, pull, push, lift and move heavy objects (often 50+ lbs), repetitive work (table and chair setups), climb ladders, walk and stand for long periods, operate various mechanical custodial machines.
Conditions: Ability to work in various weather conditions, heights, and occasionally late nights.
Schedule
Monday thru Friday 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with every other weekend Saturday 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Sunday 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. (other scheduled events can alter weekday and weekend times). Overtime is available with busier times throughout the year.
