Quality Control Inspector
The Quality Control Inspector ensures that valves, components, and raw materials meet required quality standards through thorough visual, dimensional, and non-destructive testing. This role performs first-run, in-process, and final inspections on incoming raw materials, machined parts, fabricated parts, and completed products, and maintains accurate quality records and documentation throughout the inspection process.
Responsibilities:
Perform first-run, in-process floor inspections, and final inspections on valves and related components to verify compliance with required standards and specifications.
Conduct visual and dimensional inspections on incoming raw materials, machined parts, fabricated parts, and completed products using appropriate inspection tools.
Perform non-destructive testing (NDT) on welds using penetrant testing (PT) and magnetic particle testing (MT) methods in accordance with applicable procedures and levels of certification.
Monitor and oversee hydrostatic pressure tests and seat leakage tests to confirm product integrity and performance.
Inspect incoming raw materials to determine suitability for machining and verify they meet specified requirements.
Review material certifications and inspect required documentation for purchased materials to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and final valve build sheets to determine inspection criteria and acceptance standards.
Complete required reports and quality documents accurately and in a timely manner, including inspection reports and related quality records.
Identify and mark parts and materials with correct part numbers and associated identification requirements to ensure proper traceability.
Investigate nonconformance reports (NCRs), determine the nature of nonconformities, and complete close-out activities according to established procedures.
Use inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, and other measurement instruments to verify dimensional accuracy.
Support final inspection and first article inspection activities to ensure products are ready for release.
Collaborate with production and quality teams to communicate inspection results and support continuous improvement of quality processes.
Essential Skills:
5+ years of quality control inspection experience in a manufacturing or similar environment.
Hands-on experience performing visual and dimensional inspections on incoming raw materials, fabricated parts, machined parts, and completed products.
Experience conducting non-destructive testing (NDT) inspections, including penetrant testing (PT) and magnetic particle testing (MT).
Level I PT certification, with the ability to perform penetrant testing in accordance with applicable standards.
Level I MT certification, with the ability to perform magnetic particle testing on welds and components.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, specifications, and build sheets to determine inspection requirements.
Strong experience with quality control record keeping and reporting, including completion of inspection reports and quality documentation.
Familiarity with nonconformance reports (NCRs), including investigation and close-out activities.
Ability to use inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, and other precision measurement instruments.
Experience with final inspection and first article inspection processes.
Knowledge of nondestructive testing and quality inspection practices in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
Ability to monitor and document hydrostatic pressure and seat leakage tests.
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to maintain accurate and complete records.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
Level II PT certification is preferred for more advanced penetrant testing responsibilities.
Level II MT certification is preferred for more advanced magnetic particle testing responsibilities.
Experience with radiographic testing (RT) is a plus.
Background in valve manufacturing or valve inspection is highly beneficial.
Familiarity with NDE/NDT inspection methods beyond PT and MT is an advantage.
Experience working with nonconformance reports and corrective action processes.
Ability to work extended hours, including 50+ hours per week, when production demands require.
Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams.

The position involves regular use of inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, and NDT equipment for PT and MT inspections, as well as exposure to hydrostatic and seat leakage testing setups in a structured industrial setting.
