
Legal Secretary

A respected California law firm is seeking an experienced Legal Secretary to support attorneys serving as City Attorneys, Assistant City Attorneys, and special counsel to cities and public agencies. This role is ideal for a highly organized professional with strong municipal or public law experience who thrives in a deadline?driven environment. This Legal Secretary can report to the firm's downtown San Francisco or Oakland office, and the firm offers 3 remote days/week upon completion of the 90-day introductory period.
Key Responsibilities
Support attorneys representing cities and public agencies.
Prepare and finalize municipal documents, including ordinances, resolutions, staff reports, agreements, and correspondence.
Assist with preparation and distribution of city council, board, and commission agendas and packets.
Maintain attorney calendars for meetings, hearings, closed sessions, and deadlines.
Track and communicate municipal deadlines, including agenda cutoffs and filing requirements.
Manage public agency records and municipal files using NetDocuments.
Communicate professionally with city clerks, managers, elected officials, and agency staff.
Support compliance matters, including Brown Act, Public Records Act, and Political Reform Act requests.
Coordinate billing and rate information with Accounting.
Provide limited litigation support related to public entity matters as needed.
Prepare and file FPPC Form 700 disclosures for attorneys.
Qualifications
High school diploma required; bachelors degree preferred.
5+ years of legal secretary experience, preferably in municipal or public law.
Familiarity with California public law, including the Brown Act and Public Records Act.
Strong understanding of municipal and public agency operations.
Excellent organizational, communication, and multitasking skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a high?pressure environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat.
Experience with NetDocuments, Best Authority, CompuLaw/ProLaw, and Aderant preferred.
Compensation & Benefits
Annual Salary Range: $85,000$115,000 (based on experience and qualifications)
