Job Description
A cross-functional role responsible for procuring materials, planning production activities, and analyzing supply chain data to support efficient, cost-effective operations. The ideal candidate balances supply and demand, ensures material availability, optimizes inventory levels, and delivers actionable insights to improve overall supply chain performance.
Day-to-day responsibilities
Buying & procurement
Source, negotiate, and purchase raw materials, components, and finished goods to support production and customer demand
Create, manage, and monitor purchase orders based on production plans, forecasts, and inventory policies
Maintain supplier relationships and monitor performance across lead time, quality, and cost; address supply disruptions as needed
Ensure accuracy of vendor records, pricing, lead times, and material master data
Collaborate with accounts payable and suppliers to resolve invoice discrepancies
Production planning
Develop and maintain production schedules aligned with demand forecasts, orders, material availability, and capacity constraints
Release and manage work orders to meet customer delivery requirements
Coordinate with manufacturing, engineering, quality, and logistics teams to resolve scheduling or material constraints
Monitor production performance against plan and recommend adjustments as needed
Support new product introductions and engineering changes from a planning and material readiness perspective
Inventory management
Establish and maintain safety stock, reorder points, and inventory policies
Monitor inventory levels to balance service levels, production needs, and carrying costs
Identify and manage excess, obsolete, or slow-moving inventory
Support cycle counts, physical inventories, and inventory accuracy initiatives
Supply chain analytics & reporting
Analyze demand, supply, inventory, and production data to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities
Develop reports and dashboards covering inventory turns, forecast accuracy, supplier performance, and service levels
Provide data-driven recommendations to improve planning accuracy, reduce costs, and enhance supply reliability
Support continuous improvement initiatives across planning, procurement, and supply chain processes
Systems, compliance & continuous improvement
Maintain data integrity within ERP/MRP systems (SAP, NetSuite, NDS)
Support audits and compliance with internal controls and company policies
Participate in process improvement and cost-reduction initiatives across the supply chain
Document planning and procurement procedures as needed
Requirements
Must-haves
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, Engineering, or a related field preferred
3–6 years of experience in buying, production planning, or supply chain analysis
Strong working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and demand planning concepts
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (analysis, reporting, pivot tables)
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
Highly detail-oriented with comfort working across procurement, manufacturing, and planning functions
Nice-to-haves
Experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment
Knowledge of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies
Experience managing complex BOMs or multi-site supply chains
