Overview
Contractual Transportation Engineering Technician I (Grade 08) position in the State Highway Administration supporting pavement‑marking data collection with the Mobile Retro‑reflectometer Unit (MRU).
Responsibilities
Drive the MRU and assist in equipment setup and removal.
Operate the MRU via a Surface Pro and upload data to eGIS, the Asset Data Warehouse, and the Roads & Highways system.
Enter statewide pavement‑marking information into the Pavement Marking Management System.
Process District pavement‑marking documents and evaluate new tools and methods to improve efficiency, accuracy, and safety.
Travel across Maryland as needed to verify pavement‑marking conditions day and night.
Cross‑function with other teams within the Structural Materials & Pavement Markings Division.
Qualifications
High‑school graduation or high‑school equivalency certificate.
No prior experience required.
Valid Maryland motor vehicle operator’s license with license number and expiration date listed on the application.
Legally authorized to work in the United States under the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986.
Foreign‑educated applicants must provide proof of equivalent U.S. education via a credential evaluation service.
