Material Handler Optomechanical Manufacturing

The Material Handler is responsible for the accurate movement, storage, and distribution of materials and components within an optomechanical manufacturing facility. This role supports production by ensuring timely delivery of precision parts, maintaining inventory accuracy, and adhering to strict quality and cleanliness standards required for optical and mechanical assemblies.
Key Responsibilities
Pull, inspect, and verify incoming materials against purchase orders and specifications
Safely transport raw materials, optical components, and finished goods throughout the facility
Stage materials for production lines, ensuring correct quantities, part numbers, and batch or serial numbers
Maintain inventory accuracy through cycle counts and inventory tracking systems (ERP/MRP)
Handle sensitive optical and mechanical components with care to prevent damage or contamination
Follow cleanroom protocols and proper handling procedures when required
Maintain organized storage areas in compliance with 5S and safety standards
Assist with shipping and receiving processes, including documentation and coordination
Report discrepancies, damaged materials, or inventory issues to supervisors promptly
Other duties as assigned
About the Candidate
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required
13 years of experience in material handling, warehouse, or manufacturing environment preferred
Experience in precision manufacturing or handling delicate components is a plus
Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and inventory control processes
Ability to read work orders, part numbers, and basic technical documentation
Skills & Competencies
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to follow strict handling and cleanliness procedures
Good organizational and time-management skills
Basic computer skills for inventory systems and data entry
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Effective communication skills
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 lbs.
Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching
Ability to work in cleanroom or controlled environments (gowning may be required)
Work Environment
Manufacturing setting with a mix of warehouse and cleanroom environments
Exposure to precision optical and mechanical components requiring careful handling
May require use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
