Job Description
This position will directly affect equipment uptime by using skills to troubleshoot, inspect, repair and improve manufacturing equipment used to produce umbilicals for subsea oil and gas operations. The role involves diagnosing and replacing faulty electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and automation components on production equipment, including relays, switches, motors, gearboxes, cylinders, sensors, circuit boards, electric motor bearings, programmable controllers, and variable frequency drives (VFD). Occasionally, the employee plans the layout of wiring and conduit for electrical circuits ranging from 24 V AC to 480 V AC. The individual will be a critical part of a team that values expertise, ideas, and commitment to quality.

Essential Responsibilities

Understand work center training, safety requirements, OEM manuals, and other equipment procedures.

Implement continuous improvement initiatives such as 6S, Lean Practices, and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM).

Complete computer‑based maintenance documentation on work orders and share updates with the team during turnover.

Maintain knowledge of company maintenance procedures and assist with daily maintenance checks and activities for the work center.

Plan and install wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatus in buildings.

Read hydraulic and electrical schematics, comprehend complex drawings, specifications, and procedures.

Assemble, disassemble, and test various tools and assemblies for onshore and offshore surface and subsea applications.

Review project instructions and blueprints to determine objectives, test equipment, and develop possible solutions such as redesign, material substitution, or component rearrangement.

Set up and conduct tests of complete units and components under operational conditions to investigate design proposals for improving equipment performance.

Qualifications

Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in a manufacturing environment.

Must obtain a TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Card) and pass a background check.

Pass a drug and hair follicle test.

Ability to work minimum 8‑hour shifts on a rotating or fixed schedule, including occasional weekends.

Basic computer knowledge and proficiency in arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).

Reading and comprehending simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

Writing simple correspondence.

Effectively presenting information in one‑on‑one and small group settings to customers, clients, and colleagues.

Understanding of flushing and system fluid cleanliness installation.

Desired

High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

1–2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.

Electrician/Journeyman License desired.

Experience with 480 VAC power systems, breakers, Siemens AC/DC variable frequency drives, and basic PLC principles.

Working Conditions

Primarily indoors during the day and occasionally at night.

Frequently working on or near moving and vibrating equipment.

When outdoors, humidity frequently above 90 %.

Noise level over 85 decibels.

Light intensity and glare.

Occasional exposure to open fire, flames, sparks.

Frequent exposure to airborne dust, fumes, and gases.
