Job Description
The Senior SDET ensures that developed software meets functional and quality requirements. This role is responsible for executing QA and UAT activities, creating test plans and automated test scripts, maintaining automation frameworks, and supporting ongoing test efforts. The Senior SDET also coaches junior team members, conducts code reviews, and applies strong technical expertise to maintain high standards of software quality across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with product, design, and development teams to understand business requirements and communicate risks
Create and execute test plans and test scripts to accurately assess application quality
Analyze test results, identify defects, and document findings following team standards
Develop, maintain, and enhance automation tests and frameworks using Java, Groovy, and Kotlin
Conduct code reviews to ensure adherence to object-oriented design and automation best practices
Maintain strong functional knowledge of assigned product features and define QA standards
Communicate test progress, results, and quality metrics to stakeholders
Coach other QAs in test environments, data setup, and test management processes
Apply deep understanding of web technologies, REST APIs, web services, and related tools
Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated testing (Jenkins, Azure, etc.)
Improve automation test reliability, coverage, and overall accuracy
Troubleshoot and resolve defects using logs and diagnostic tools such as Splunk
Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
5+ years of direct experience as an SDET for major application integrations or product releases
Experience collaborating with peers and coaching junior team members
Strong ability to analyze business requirements and develop thorough test plans and scripts
Proficiency in documenting defects with accuracy and clarity
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Proficiency with version control tools such as Git or Subversion
Proficiency in testing REST and SOAP APIs using tools such as SoapUI or Postman
Deep expertise in Java and/or Groovy, test automation frameworks, Selenium, and Appium
Ability to search system logs and troubleshoot potential defects using Splunk or similar tools
Hands-on experience with automated testing tools, reporting software, and ad hoc query tools
Strong experience preparing and maintaining test data and test scripts
Strong understanding of software testing methodologies and best practices
Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins
