Senior Engineer - OFE HV Coordinator

Job Summary
The Senior Engineer OFE HV Coordinator will support the development and design execution of behind-the-meter electrical power generation facility and microgrid for a large AI data center project. In this role, you will utilize individual technical knowledge to interpret, organize, execute, and coordinate the technical aspects. You will participate in project planning, proposal review, and will own the engineering elements of capital estimates. Your technical guidance and recommendations will ensure engineering aspects meet project requirements and remain within scope and budget.

The Senior Engineer OFE HV Coordinator will be a solid leader and collaborator who will be the primary interface with various Owner Furnish Equipment (OFE) suppliers including HV Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS), 138kV Power Transformers, and 35kV Switchgear. In this role, you will utilize individual technical knowledge to interpret, organize, execute, and coordinate with the OFE suppliers for execution scope. You will participate in coordination meetings, project planning, monitoring the schedule, and delivery of critical equipment to ensure that the suppliers are on track to meet the project schedule. Your technical guidance and recommendations will ensure engineering aspects meet project requirements and remain within scope and budget.

In this role, you will have oversight of all aspects of the scope being executed by the OFE suppliers and coordinate with the Bechtel team to ensure that any input needed by OFE suppliers are being provided in a timely manner. You will participate in technical reviews with the OFE suppliers for critical deliverables.

This position is designated as part‑time telework per our global telework policy and will require at least three days of in‑person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in‑person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership.

Major Responsibilities

Leads the design, development, modification and evaluation of components and processes used in the generation, manipulation, transmission, and storage of electricity utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs).

Develops conceptual designs for electrical engineering projects or projects having specialized or unique requirements.

Interviews client personnel to determine their needs, develops scope for cost estimates for services and participates in proposal preparation and presentation.

Prepares or oversees the preparation of discipline estimates and work plan in accordance with project scope, schedule, and budget, and supports implementation and assists with performance reporting.

Coordinates with client representatives, as directed, to obtain their approval of electrical aspects of the work.

Prepares specifications, material requisitions and performs technical bid evaluations for major electrical equipment.

Coordinates with OFE suppliers including monitoring of schedule and progress.

Coordinates with Bechtel construction and supply chain.

Attends meetings on regular basis with OFE suppliers and Bechtel project team to ensure smooth progress of design activities. Identify critical issues that could impact progress and bring to the attention of the stakeholders. Provide recommendations to mitigate such issues.

Education and Experience Requirements

Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8‑10 years of relevant experience or 12‑14 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge and Skills

Knowledge & application of NEC code and ANSI/IEEE Standards.

Must be able to collaborate well with other disciplines.

Experience as electrical responsible engineer for medium to large material requisitions (Transformers, Switchgear, Substations, etc).

Knowledge of high voltage systems which includes but not limited to; HV switchyards (AIS and GIS) and Power Transformers.

Knowledge of Power System One Lines, Schematics, and Connection Diagrams.

Professional Registration License (P.E) in Electrical Engineering discipline.

Prior experience with attending Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) of switchgear, protective relays, SCADA and substations is preferred.
