Materials Planner, Production Control, Semi
Tesla Motors, Inc., Nevada, IA, United States
Tesla Semi is seeking a Materials Planner to support a new product ramp in a highly dynamic, launch‑focused environment. This role is critical to building, stabilizing, and executing material planning and request‑to‑ship processes across RC builds, commissioning, and launch preparation.
The ideal candidate is comfortable operating in ambiguity, understands end‑to‑end material flow, and is capable of helping define structure, ownership, and escalation paths across Engineering, NPI, Production Control, Logistics, and Warehousing. This is not a purely transactional role; it requires systems thinking, strong cross‑functional alignment, and proactive problem solving.
What You’ll Do
Support and help define the end‑to‑end material planning and execution model for RC builds, commissioning, and pre‑production activities
Own material request intake, tracking, and fulfillment coordination for non‑production, prototype, and commissioning parts and identify gaps in material readiness, visibility, or process and proactively propose structural improvements
Drive clarity on ownership, handoffs, and escalation paths across NPI, Engineering, Production Control, Logistics, and external warehouses while
Develop and execute material management strategies for prototype and RC builds, including replenishment, sequencing, validation, and availability
Coordinate closely with Engineering and NPI to manage evolving BOMs, part revisions, pedigree requirements, and change control
Support the transition of material planning processes from RC builds into PV and launch, minimizing rework and operational debt while ensuring timely material availability to support build schedules, commissioning activities, and quality validation
Maintain accurate material status, risks, and priorities, and communicate clearly to stakeholders
What You’ll Bring
Degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain, or equivalent experience
3-5 years of relevant experience in materials planning, production control, supply chain, or logistics within a manufacturing or launch environment
Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities in fast‑paced, ambiguous conditions
Strong systems thinking with the ability to understand material flow end‑to‑end, not just individual transactions
Experience working cross‑functionally with Engineering, NPI, Operations, and Logistics
Strong analytical skills; proficiency in Excel and data‑driven decision making
Clear communicator with a collaborative, problem‑solving mindset with a high sense of ownership, accountability, and attention to detail
