Job Summary
The Rare Disease Business Manager (RDBM) in Arizona/San Diego, CA, leverages strong communication and interpersonal skills to analyze data and translate insights into actionable strategies. The role supports healthcare professionals (HCPs) in accelerating diagnosis for patients within the rare metabolic space by building impactful relationships within the geographic responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

Execute brand strategies and achieve sales goals within the assigned territory.

Focus on target physicians treating patients with Lysosomal Storage Disorders; provide education to aid early diagnosis and/or treatment.

Develop in‑depth business plans to allocate disease‑state and product education throughout the region.

Engage customers to raise disease‑state awareness across multidisciplinary healthcare specialties, enhancing the LSD portfolio.

Educate HCPs on disease signs, symptoms, differential diagnosis, and appropriate Takeda treatment options.

Collaborate with the LSD cross‑functional team and internal partners to coordinate efforts and maximize business outcomes.

Analyze market data to assess opportunities and priorities, considering regional healthcare market dynamics and patient needs.

Attend conferences and exhibits to promote disease‑state awareness; plan and execute disease‑state and product programs using approved vendors.

Motivate extended team members, fostering engagement and accountability.

Integrate and prioritize sales leads and tactics with key stakeholders to optimize customer engagement and account results.

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications

Minimum of a bachelor’s degree.

Five or more years of direct selling experience to healthcare professionals within pharmaceutical, biotech, medical device, or related healthcare industries.

Track record of success in a complex sales model.

Experience in rare diseases and complex sales environments (preferred).

Consistent achievement of territorial sales goals.

Strong strategic territory management skills.

Knowledge of payer access, reimbursement, and ability to communicate complex reimbursement issues.

Biotech, biologics, and specialty pharmacy experience (helpful).

Experience with buy‑and‑bill product selling/account management (preferred).

Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary internal and external teams.

Strong marketplace acumen.

Key Skills

Experience in a highly regulated marketplace.

Excellent questioning and exploratory ability in customer calls.

Technical competence with Excel, CRM, and data analysis.

Consultative selling skills and superior organizational skills.

Proven analytical capabilities.

Comfortable delivering presentations to large and small groups.

Teamwork and collaboration.

Adaptability in a fluid marketplace and evolving organization.

Travel Requirements

Must live within the territory.

Must work evenings and weekends as needed.

Extensive travel required (approximately 50% of the time), varying by territory.

Must have authorization and the ability to drive a company‑leased vehicle or rental.

Training Requirements
Continuing employment is contingent upon successful completion of mandatory product training, which includes written and oral examinations. During the training period, the employee will be classified as a non‑exempt employee, eligible for overtime, and will not receive any sales incentive or bonus programs. The training includes live instruction, independent study, role play, and other activities, limited to no more than eight hours per day and 40 hours total per week. Upon successful completion, the employee will transition to exempt status, become eligible for incentive programs, and will receive a bi‑weekly salary.

Compensation and Benefits Summary

U.S. hourly wage range: $66.11 - $90.91.

Hourly wage may vary based on qualifications, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.

Eligible for short‑term incentives for U.S. employees.

Benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with company match, short‑term and long‑term disability, basic life insurance, tuition reimbursement, paid volunteer time, company holidays, and wellness benefits.

Eligible for up to 80 hours of sick time and up to 120 hours of paid vacation (for new hires).
