The Opportunity: Tetra Tech is adding an Entry Level Structural Engineer to our Global Services Design Team based in our Marlborough, Massachusetts Office. In this role, you will contribute to the design and delivery of facility and infrastructure projects for government, public, and private clients. Working under the mentorship of Senior Structural Engineers, you will gain hands‑on experience with engineering design and construction documentation. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated engineer in training to grow into a project engineer role while advancing toward PE licensure.

Position Summary

We are currently seeking an entry‑level engineer who combines strong technical fundamentals with independent thinking and creative design instincts. The ideal candidate will perform engineering analysis and produce construction documents for various projects, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and contribute to the implementation of real‑world solutions that are cost effective, efficient, and practical. This position supports Tetra Tech’s global services market, specifically relating to the design of facility and infrastructure projects worldwide. The selected candidate will experience a unique opportunity to be involved with projects located both in the US and in various areas of the world, while working with a team of in‑house experts in various design disciplines. A dynamic work environment promotes creative, independent thinking to incorporate design and construction applications adapted to local site and environmental conditions. Projects include preparing both full design‑bid‑build documents as well as working on design‑build contractor teams. The position involves producing coordinated, construction‑ready 3D BIM models and drawing sets using Autodesk Revit or AutoCAD.
Essential Job Functions

Design structural systems under the guidance of experienced engineers, including calculations, framing layouts, member sizing, and material specifications.
Develop coordinated 3D structural BIM models for building projects in Autodesk Revit and prepare Structural Construction Documents using Revit and/or AutoCAD.
Contribute to writing technical specifications, design narratives and calculation reports that document design assumptions and decisions.
Coordinate design work and technical requirements with architects and other engineering disciplines throughout the design process to ensure integrated design solutions.
Assist in reviewing and annotating design and construction documents, tracking comments, addressing mark‑ups, and incorporating feedback to produce design deliverables.
Review construction submittals and assist in developing responses to requests for information (RFIs).
Pursue continuous professional development to stay updated on industry advancements and maintain a high level of technical expertise.
Prioritize safety in your work, always following company and regulatory and safety protocols and promptly reporting any health and safety incidents or concerns.
Perform additional duties as required.
Required Qualifications

Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree from an ABET accredited college or university in Civil Engineering (or equivalent), with a focus on structural engineering coursework.
Experience: 0+ years of relevant experience in structural engineering or design; new graduates with strong academic backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
Technical Skills: Knowledgeable in the design of structural steel, reinforced concrete, and masonry; familiar with design codes and standards such as IBC, ASCE 7, AISC 360, or ACI 318 is required.
Time: ability to meet project deadlines while adhering to quality standards.
Software Proficiency: Proficient with Microsoft Office 365, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook; familiar with Autodesk Revit Structure or AutoCAD and structural analysis tools such as RISA-3D, Bentley RAM Structural System, STAAD, CSI SAFE or other similar analysis programs is required; proficiency is a plus.
Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to collaborate effectively within project teams.
Team Collaboration: Enthusiasm for contributing to team projects and mentoring junior staff as experience grows.
Additional Requirements: Due to the clients we serve, this position requires U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residence Card. Must be able to pass background screening including criminal history, credit check etc.
Preferred Qualifications

Certifications: EIT (Engineer in Training) certification or successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam is strongly preferred; Autodesk Certified Professional (ACP) certification in Revit Structures is a plus.
Commitment to passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam within six months.
Physical Requirements

Stand or Sit. Must be able to remain in a stationary position a minimum of 50% of the time. Use hands/fingers to handle or feel. Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
Work Environment / Environmental Factors

Office Environment. Majority of work is done in office environment.
Occasional Travel. While traveling may have limited exposure to extreme heat/cold. Since travel is likely to be international in nature employees will need to sit for extended period of time on airplane.
Additional Information

Employment Type. The position is full time regular, 40 hours per week. Additional paid overtime available with manager approval.
Work Schedule. Standard office hours Monday thru Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm including an unpaid thirty minute lunch break.
Work Location. The work location is Marlborough, Massachusetts.
Travel Flexibility. Willingness to participate in short‑term international travel assignments as needed.
Hybrid. This position has the option to work from home two days per week in accordance with Tetra Tech's Remote Work Policy.
Salary and Benefits. The salary range for this position is $67,000 to $73,000. Please note that Tetra Tech considers various factors in determining pay, including but not limited to geographic location, qualifications, licensures, certifications, experience, and other skills relevant to the needs of the business. Employment Information

Salary range: $67,000 – $73,000 per year.
