Responsibilities
The IT Operations Support Technician establishes schedules for computer runs and initiates, monitors, and controls the running of computer jobs through automated production software, including correcting and restarting jobs when needed.
Supports mainframe/server scheduler changes and performs QA on any program changes prior to deployment into the production systems.
Facilitates job implementation and flow modification using automated tools.
Creates and maintains specialized software calendars and run‑day requirements to automate batch cycle execution.
Initiates and verifies the successful completion of production cycles through standard enterprise tools.
Cross‑trains colleagues on methods for effective job execution across multi‑systems or platforms, emphasizing best automation practices.
Participates in setting automated workload scheduling and code migration using change‑management policies to ensure production consistency and accuracy at the initial setup and database levels.
Assists with consolidating technical data processing information from automated sources into daily and weekend schedules for production cycles on multiple systems and platforms.
Coordinates and participates in production implementations, upgrades, and testing of automated workload scheduling software and code migration products or system events.
Communicates regularly with NWRDC subsection team members, system programmers, application developers, and end‑user offices.
Creates and submits production reports to management.
Maintains and follows technical procedures.
Participates in approved professional development opportunities per NWRDC’s policy.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalency and three years’ experience, or a combination of post‑high‑school education and experience equal to three years.
Preferred Qualifications
Three years minimum data center/job scheduling experience.
Ideal Candidate
Self‑starter with at least three years minimum data center/job scheduling experience, willing to work Monday–Friday 7:00 am–4:00 pm, and available for holidays and on‑call emergencies. Capable of reporting to duty during natural disasters such as hurricanes, floods, or other emergencies.
Typical Day
Establishes schedules for computer runs utilizing automated production software, supports mainframe/server scheduler changes, and performs QA on program changes prior to deployment into production systems.
Training and Onboarding
First 60‑90 days: 16‑week training program to be provided.
Working Hours & On‑Call
Monday–Friday 7:00 am–4:00 pm. Willingness to work holidays and emergencies (off‑shifts) when necessary. Eligible for on‑call pay additive.
Background Check
Successful completion of a criminal history background check required. CJIS level Background Checks shall be conducted for positions with access to Criminal Justice Information.
