Conventional Lathe & Miller Operator (Tool & Die Maker 4)
who is critical to the successful operation of the extrusion department. This position is responsible for building, modifying, and maintaining extrusion dies to support production and development activities. The ideal candidate will be proficient in operating conventional machining equipment and knowledgeable in the properties and behaviors of elastomeric materials, as well as extrusion equipment and related machinery.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Build extrusion dies so that the finished product is within the tolerances and specifications of the drawings and process router
Assistwith the installation, rework, and modification of dies as necessary
Maintainappropriate recordson extrusion dies, including relevant dimensional data, die number, type of material, and related documentation
Order andmaintainsufficient supplies asrequired
Identifyand communicate process and manufacturing improvement opportunities using Opportunity for Improvements (OFI) forms when applicable
Enforce good housekeeping and safety practices as outlined in the Employee Handbook or as directed by the V.P. of Operations
Support projects and tasks as assigned by the ExtrusionLead, including follow-up communication on task status and completion
Assistwith troubleshooting and adjustment of dies during manufacturing or development activities as needed
Other responsibilities as assigned
Job Specifications:
Years Experience:
4-5+ years of die-making experience required; experience in rubber manufacturing preferred
Education:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
Skills:
Bilingual-English/Spanish preferred but notrequired
Critical attention to detail
Working knowledge of rubber types, cure systems, and the effects of different manufacturing techniques on them
Ability to read blueprints, material specifications, and process specifications
Working knowledge of rubber manufacturing equipment, including extruders, mills,calendaring, tooling, die making, H.A.V. ovens, and autoclaves
Ability to lift 20lbs
Preferred / Desirable Qualifications:
Hands-on experience in a rubber extrusion environment.
Ability to support die testing and development runs bymaking adjustmentsor modifications as needed
Experience operating extrusion equipment to help evaluate the performance of new or modified dies
Practical understanding of rubber flow, die behavior, and extrusion troubleshooting during trial runs
Experience in rubber aerospace manufacturing or other high-performance elastomer applications preferred
Training Requirements:
On-the-job training will be conducted on procedures and work instructions from the area of responsibility
Yearly refresher training on FOD, Calibration, Documentation Control, and Safety topics
