Role Overview
We are looking for a
Mainframe Modernization Engineer
to support the migration of legacy mainframe applications to AWS cloud environments.
This role focuses on contributing to solution design, supporting modernization initiatives, and participating in implementation activities as part of a broader transformation program.
Key Responsibilities
Architecture & Design Support
Contribute to the design of target architectures for migrating mainframe applications (COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, etc.) to AWS.
Support hybrid solutions including rehosting and re platforming approaches.
Assist in creating technical documentation and reference patterns.
Cloud Migration & Modernization
Support the selection and implementation of AWS services (e.g., EC2, RDS, S3, EKS, Lambda).
Participate in application assessment and modernization planning.
Work with tools for code transformation and migration (e.g., Micro Focus, Blu Age, AWS Mainframe Modernization).
Implementation & Delivery
Participate in PoCs, migrations, and deployment activities.
Collaborate with DevOps teams to enable CI/CD pipelines.
Support containerization and cloud-native adoption initiatives.
Contribute to performance optimization and cost-efficiency efforts.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
Work closely with architects, developers, and cloud engineers.
Share knowledge within the team and contribute to best practices documentation.
Required Skills & Experience
5–8 years of IT experience, with exposure to cloud and modernization projects.
Solid knowledge of mainframe technologies (COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, VSAM).
Hands-on experience working with AWS services (AWS certification is a plus).
Experience in at least one modernization approach: rehost, re platform, or refactor.
Basic understanding of microservices and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes/EKS).
Familiarity with DevOps practices and Infrastructure as Code (CloudFormation or Terraform).
Understanding of cloud security and performance fundamentals. xywuqvp
