
National Data Center Business Development Manager

As the National Data Center Business Development Manager at Crescent Electric, you will drive national-level growth within the data center grey space-focused on power distribution, infrastructure solutions, thermal management, low-voltage systems, and supporting technologies. In this role, you will identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities with hyperscale, colocation, enterprise, and mission‑critical data center clients while partnering cross‑functionally to position Crescent Electric as a strategic solutions provider.
PRIMARY DUTIES
Lead national business development efforts to grow Data Center product/Data Center sales and profitability across targeted accounts.
Develop and execute national strategy for growth in data center grey space markets.
Identify, pursue, and close new data center opportunities across hyperscale, collocation, and enterprise operators.
Build and maintain a national pipeline of grey‑space infrastructure opportunities (power distribution, busway, UPS, fiber, racks, containment, cooling).
Collaborate with branches, specialists, and suppliers to assemble complex solutions and competitive proposals.
Lead discovery conversations with facility engineers, design firms, EPCs, and OEMs to understand technical and operational requirements.
Deliver executive-level presentations, proposals, and ROI/TCO justification.
Secure special pricing agreements and develop margin strategies for data center solution packages.
Conduct joint calls with branches and account teams to support data center growth initiatives.
Act as internal SME on data center grey‑space technologies, trends, and vendor capabilities.
Maintain accurate CRM records, forecasts, target lists, and opportunity progression.
Regular travel to customer sites, trade events, national meetings (40‑50%).
SKILLS
Deep understanding of data center grey space infrastructure (power distribution, UPS, busway, fiber, cooling, racks, containment, monitoring).
Proven success in business development within mission‑critical or data center markets.
Strong technical aptitude with ability to translate infrastructure requirements into solution packages.
Excellent communication, influence, and executive presentation skills.
Strong negotiation skills related to complex proposals, pricing structures, and multivendor solutions.
Ability to work independently and manage long sales cycles.
High degree of organization, accuracy, and follow‑through.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution; 3‑5 years of data center, mission‑critical, or infrastructure‑related sales/business development experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience working with design firms, EPCs, facility engineers, and mission‑critical project teams.
Valid driver's license, with the ability to travel nationally up to 50% of the time with overnight stays.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Frequently sitting, standing, and walking.
Occasional reaching, twisting, bending and kneeling.
Use of technology, such as phone, computer, printer, and keyboard.
Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.
Vision requirements for driving: close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less), distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more), peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point), depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships).
May be required to work more than 40 hours per week.
