Job Purpose
The Inventory Control Lead is responsible for supervising and coordinating activities of workers concerning inventorying materials, supplies, tools, equipment, and parts in our stockroom, warehouse, or yard.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Maintain layout of stockroom, warehouse, and other storage areas, considering turnover, size, weight, and related factors.

Study records and recommend remedial actions for non‑usable, slow‑moving, and excess stock.

Review records for accuracy and compliance with established procedures to determine adequacy of stock levels.

Schedule work for special and periodic inventories.

Prepare composite reports from individual reports of Inventory Specialists.

Trace history of items to determine reasons for discrepancies between inventory and stock control records and recommend remedial actions.

Issue written and oral instructions and expedite workflow with team members.

Assign duties and examine work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures.

Perform other tasks as assigned by manager.

Travel to assist other facilities and have reliable transportation.

Additional Responsibilities

Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Write routine reports and correspondence.

Physically count articles or products on shelves, racks and pallets.

Utilize computer terminal to properly account for inventory issues, returns, and documentation.

Qualifications

Minimum 2 years related experience and/or training in inventory control.

Minimum 1 to 2 years related experience and/or training in a warehouse environment.

Experience operating a forklift and cherry picker/high‑lift.

Experience using WMS software (Synapse preferred).

Working knowledge of inventory control practices; KPI reporting, coordinating cycle count programs, product rotation.

PC literate with experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Access database.

Education and/or Experience Required

High school diploma or GED.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Ability to write reports and correspondence.

Ability to physically count articles or products on shelves, racks and pallets.

Language Skills Sets

Must effectively communicate, read, write and speak English.

Can read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

Can write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

Can present information and respond to questions from managers, clients and customers.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions and decimals; compute rate, ratio and percent; draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and manage variables in unconstrained environments.

Interpret various instructions – written, oral, diagram, or schedule.

Determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.

Computer Skills

Knowledge of business operating systems, internet software, word processing and spreadsheet software.

Physical Demands

Occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.

Stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

Operate telephone systems, keyboards and buttons.

Speak clearly in front of others.

Work in indoor/office environment; sit and perform repetitive hand motions.

Talk, hear, stand and walk frequently.

Work over 8 hours continuously when required.

Work under stressful situations, maintain accuracy, concentrate on multiple tasks, and possess good cognitive skills.

Read and discern visual images with 20/20 corrected vision.

Communicate over the telephone clearly.

Be in sound physical health as assessed by a licensed physician with no evidence of controlled substance use.

Work Environment

Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles.

Noise level ranges from quiet to moderately loud.
