Position Summary

The Personal Lines Flood Product Manager is responsible for the strategy, development, and performance of the flood insurance product portfolio within our Master General Agency (MGA). This role serves as the primary subject matter expert for Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) and private flood insurance products, working closely with carrier partners, reinsurers, agents, and internal stakeholders to drive profitable growth and ensure regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities

Product Strategy & Development

Lead the design, development, and ongoing management of personal lines flood insurance products, including both NFIP Write‑Your‑Own (WYO) and private flood programs.
Define product positioning, appetite, coverage terms, pricing structures, and eligibility guidelines in alignment with MGA business objectives.
Monitor emerging flood risk trends, climate data, and competitor offerings to identify product gaps and growth opportunities.
Partner with carrier partners and reinsurers to negotiate program terms, capacity, and profit‑sharing arrangements.
Underwriting & Pricing Oversight

Collaborate with underwriting and actuarial teams to develop and refine rating models, underwriting guidelines, and risk appetite frameworks.
Analyze loss experience, exposure data, and reinsurance treaty performance to inform pricing actions and product adjustments.
Oversee policy form development and ensure flood products comply with applicable state and federal regulations, including FEMA and NFIP requirements.
Distribution & Agent Support

Serve as the primary internal and external resource for flood product knowledge, training, and technical guidance for appointed agents and brokers.
Develop and deliver agent education materials, marketing collateral, and underwriting guides to support distribution partners.
Work with the sales team to grow flood premium volume and penetration across existing and new distribution channels.
Compliance & Regulatory

Ensure all flood products meet state filing requirements and maintain current form and rate approvals across applicable jurisdictions.
Stay current with FEMA, NFIP, and Risk Rating 2.0 changes and assess the impact on the MGA's product portfolio.
Liaise with compliance, legal, and carrier partners to address regulatory inquiries and filing updates in a timely manner.
Performance Monitoring & Reporting

Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for the flood product portfolio, including loss ratios, combined ratios, premium growth, and retention.
Prepare regular management reports and executive presentations on product performance, market conditions, and strategic initiatives.
Recommend and implement corrective actions in response to adverse portfolio trends.
Qualifications

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field; advanced degree.
Minimum 5 years of experience in personal lines insurance product management, underwriting, or a related role within an MGA, carrier, or reinsurance environment.
Demonstrated expertise in flood insurance, including working knowledge of the NFIP, WYO program, and the private flood insurance market.
Familiarity with FEMA’s Risk Rating 2.0 methodology and its market implications.
Familiarity and reputation with reinsurance.
Skills & Competencies

Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret loss data, actuarial reports, and market intelligence.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex concepts to non‑technical audiences.
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and lead cross‑functional projects in a fast‑paced environment.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with insurance rating platforms and policy administration systems a plus.
CPCU, AFSB, or other relevant professional designations strongly.
Working Conditions

This position operates in a professional office or remote environment. Occasional travel may be required for carrier meetings, industry conferences, and agent events. The role requires regular collaboration across time zones with internal teams and external partners.
