About the Role
The
MDM Manage r is responsible for owning and governing all Item/Product Master Data processes and systems. This leadership role ensures the accuracy, consistency, and integrity of item data while driving governance strategy and operational excellence.
You will lead a team of Data Stewards, oversee data workflows, and serve as the final authority on data approvals. This role partners closely with cross-functional stakeholders to enhance data governance frameworks and support business operations.
Key Responsibilities
Data Governance & Oversight
Act as the final approver for all new product item requests and data changes
Ensure strict adherence to data governance policies and business rules
Maintain accountability for the quality, accuracy, and consistency of item master data
Serve as the escalation point for complex data issues and policy exceptions
Manage and develop a team of Data Stewards
Provide coaching, training, and performance feedback
Oversee daily operations and workflows to ensure efficiency and quality
Ensure service level agreements (SLAs) are consistently met
Partner with teams such as IT, Supply Chain, Finance, and Sales to align data practices with business needs
Develop and evolve data governance standards and frameworks
Lead continuous improvement initiatives for data quality, processes, and documentation
Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to data quality and operational performance
Tools, Systems & Reporting
Collaborate on the development of dashboards and reporting tools to monitor data quality and team performance
Ensure effective use of MDM and ERP systems to enforce governance standards
Support enhancements to data management tools and processes

Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
Experience
5+ years of experience in Master Data Management, Data Governance, or Data Quality
2+ years of experience leading or managing data-focused teams
Hands‑on experience with item/product master data in ERP or MDM systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Informatica, Stibo)
Technical Skills
Strong knowledge of MDM principles and best practices
Experience with SQL or similar data querying tools
Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI
Understanding of how master data impacts downstream systems (Inventory, Purchasing, Finance, POS)
