Duties
Oversee and manage the operation of a vessel as the Captain
Ensure the safety of passengers, crew, and cargo during all aspects of the voyage
Navigate the vessel using charts, radar, and other navigational aids
Communicate with other vessels, port authorities, and crew members to coordinate activities
Supervise and direct crew members in their duties and responsibilities
Maintain and enforce compliance with all maritime regulations and safety standards
Conduct regular inspections of the vessel to ensure proper maintenance and functionality
Respond to emergencies or incidents that may arise during the voyage
Skills
Strong leadership skills to effectively manage a team of crew members
Mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot and address any issues with the vessel's systems or equipment
Excellent communication skills to effectively communicate with crew members, passengers, and authorities
Proficient navigation skills using charts, radar, and other navigational aids
Ability to make quick decisions in emergency situations while maintaining composure
Knowledge of maritime regulations and safety standards
Physical stamina to endure long hours at sea and perform physically demanding tasks
