Salary Range: $15.45 per hour
Position Type: 40 hours/week, July to mid June
Job Shift: Split (M-F), approximately 7:00am - 9:05am and 2:45pm - 8:20pm, work is in-person, may require working some evenings and weekends.

Child-Parent Centers is currently accepting applications for our Driver Custodian position. We are seeking applicants who are friendly, detail oriented, dependable, and think and act in a safe manner as part of his or her normal routine and overall nature. Child-Parent Centers entrust the Driver Custodian to work closely with the assigned bus monitors to provide safe transportation of preschool children to and from the Head Start center and for planned field trips. The Driver Custodian implements redundant systems to ensure that a child is never left alone on the bus. The Driver Custodian completes daily, weekly, and monthly custodial activities for the center of classrooms, playground, general grounds, and the bus. The ideal applicant is able to identify routine or emergency repair and maintenance needs and works closely with the supervisor to report to the agency's work request system. The Driver Custodian works 8 hours per day Monday through Friday.

Minimum Qualifications:
Must be 18 years of age (state licensing requirement)
Possess a High School Diploma or GED
Submit a current AZ Department of Public Safety Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card prior to start date.
Possess a valid driver's license issued within the continental United States
3-year driving history (from the state that issued the driver's license) must be clear of any citations
Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
Meet all physical, mental, vision, or any other requirements established under AZ law, BCCL, OHS, and FMCSA. ADA required accommodations will be considered and applied where reasonable and without creating undue hardship to the agency. These requirements must be met at the time of hire and throughout employment with the agency
All agency drivers are required to maintain active personal vehicle insurance. This requirement is mandated by our insurance provider and must be upheld as a condition of driving for the agency

Must complete the "agency paid" Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration training to obtain a Commercial Driver's License within 30 days of hire.
Must obtain "agency paid" Class C Commercial Driver's License with school bus and passenger endorsement within 45 days of hire. The Agency will allow a maximum of three attempts to successfully pass the required written tests. Due to the high costs involved with a CDL attainment, CPC requires all new drivers to agree to a minimum 2-year employment with the agency. Employees who submit a resignation prior to their 2-year employment agreement with CPC will be asked to reimburse the agency all or a portion of the cost to obtain their CDL.
Must be able to travel to and from various sites as needed.
Provide proof of immunizations: MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Tdap (adult Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis), and a clear Tuberculosis Self-assessment.
Able to pass a company paid physical exam prior to starting work.
Able to pass a criminal background check.
Must be able to prove the right to work in the USA by providing appropriate documents to complete the Federal I-9 form.
Desired Qualifications:
Possess a "Class C" Commercial Driver's License with school bus and passenger endorsement.
Three (3) years' experience as a school bus driver.
Three (3) years' experience working in a preschool or Head Start center.
Demonstrated proficiency using Office 365 (Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Work Environment:
Indoor and Outdoor including extreme outdoor temperatures at peak times of the day.
Daily direct works with their assigned bus.
Daily direct work with cleaning chemicals.
Possible exposure to blood-borne pathogens, communicable illnesses, animal feces, and dangerous or sharp objects.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Transportation Responsibilities:
Transport children to and from the center and other Head Start related activities in compliance with Office of Head Start performance standards, AZ Bureau of Child Care Licensure transportation regulations, and the agency's child transportation procedures (including but not limited to trip routing, release and acceptance of children, safe riding practices, alternate routes, and pre and post trip inspections).
Complete all of the Transportation Safety training modules as scheduled to meet requirements for pre-service and in-service classroom and behind-the-wheel training.
Complete pre/post trip inspections for each transportation and walk through the bus visually checking all seats at the end of each trip to ensure that no children remain on the bus.
Work with teaching staff to update and keep an accurate bus list. Maintain consistent arrival and departure times for daily routes.
Support bus monitors as necessary to ensure safe transportation. Report safety concerns to bus monitors and supervisors.
Complete bus safety inspections: maintain the bus in a clean and safe condition (return any papers, sweaters, etc. left at the end of daily routes to the teacher).
Notify supervisor of bus repair and maintenance needs including contacting the Work Request System to report service needs at pre-planned intervals and for any breakdowns or un-planned repairs. Deliver and pick up the bus for service.
Follow Fleet Fueling procedures and process for assigned bus including entry of accurate information into "pay at the pump" system.
Comply with emergency communication system policies and procedures including carrying assigned cell phone on bus during transportation of children
Ensure current vehicle registration and certificate of liability are located within the bus at all times.
Maintain a complete 1st aid kit with required items and conduct inventory of items as required.
