Claims Specialist – Design Professional
Multiple Locations

We provide a unique opportunity to work as a Claims Specialist – Design Professional, managing and resolving professional liability claims for architects and engineers across multiple jurisdictions. The role requires a focus on excellence, continuous improvement, collaboration, customer service, and colleague development within a high‑performing claims team.

Responsibilities

Proactively manage Design Professional liability claims across multiple jurisdictions, including initial review, coverage evaluation, developing resolution strategies, and ensuring ongoing communication with stakeholders.

Use robust technical skills and subject‑matter expertise to handle complex and difficult claims within authority level, focusing on timely appropriate reserves.

Partner with defense counsel to set and pursue effective, cost‑efficient litigation strategies consistent with AXA XL litigation‑management best practices.

Evaluate settlement value and negotiate claims and litigated matters within authority, and participate in mediations and settlement conferences.

Coordinate and manage communications with internal colleagues and key external stakeholders (clients, brokers, reinsurers, vendors) to ensure the highest level of customer service.

Ensure all documentation is present in the claim file and that Claims Handler Guidelines and protocols are followed.

Maintain high‑quality relationships with insureds and brokers through frequent contact and responsiveness, including prompt review of contracts for insurability when requested.

Actively participate in marketing and promotional activities with some component of public speaking.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree required; Juris Doctor (JD) preferred.

Experience: Intermediate level professional liability claims‑handling experience, managing, negotiating, and resolving complex claims.

Licensing: Insurance adjuster licenses for all states requiring licenses, or willingness to obtain such licenses immediately upon starting employment.

Proactive and results‑oriented file handling: ability to manage assigned claims proactively, prioritize multiple workflows while maintaining quality.

Analytical and technical skills: robust analytical and technical abilities to handle complex claims with sound judgment.

Collaboration: Ability to work with claims management on large and complex losses and to build productive relationships with insureds, brokers, claim handlers, underwriters, and legal counsel.

Communication: Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and influencing skills; effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.

Ethics: Handles responsibilities with integrity and the highest professional standards.

Continuous improvement focus: Willingness to ask questions, explore new ideas, learn continually, and improve technical skills and claim capabilities.

Client‑service orientation: Focus on value at all points in the claims experience and dedication to client, team, and vendor relations with professionalism and diplomacy.

Benefits
U.S. base salary range: $88,500 to $154,900 USD. Actual pay will be determined based on skills, experience, and location, with a focus on market alignment and internal equity.
