
EMS Communications Specialist - STAT MedEvac/UPMC PARC

The UPMC Center for Emergency Medicine is looking to hire an EMS Communications Specialist to support STAT MedEvac and UPMC PARC.
UPMC PARC operates 24/7 and requires continuous staffing. Candidates must be flexible and available for any shift. Daylight and evening shifts are typically 8 or 10 hours, depending on departmental needs, while overnight shifts are 10 hours.
Additionally, shifts include rotating weekends and holidays. The opportunity to telecommute some shifts may be granted after a minimum of six months of work in office in West Mifflin, PA; as well as successful demonstration of job responsibilities and approval of STAT MedEvac Communications leadership.
Purpose
The EMS Communications Specialist is responsible for processing incoming patient transport requests and processing all incoming phone calls in a timely manner; and is responsible for processing all condition codes, monitoring fire alarms, addressing security requests, and providing phone operator service during off hours.
Responsibilities
Efficiently schedule non-medically necessary transportation for eligible clients/consumers as designated by the UPMC Health Plan
Plan and coordinate transportation via the appropriate mode in accordance with the policies and procedures of the UPMC Health Plan
Receive emergency calls and process appropriately
Provide exceptional customer service according to UPMC policies and procedures
Receive and document medical command reports and notify the emergency department
Monitor hospital alarm systems
Coordinate medical command requests from paramedic to physician and document the request
Process incoming calls
Document all information in the Zoll RightCad system
Efficiently process medically necessary patient transportation requests on a timely basis.
Receive hospital condition codes and send out notification page per policy and procedure
Perform hospital operator duties on the overnight shift
