
Design Engineer

Position Overview
The role of the Design Engineer will collaborate on designs and develop application solutions for our customers through a consultative approach with manufacturers’ engineering teams, internal applications engineering team, and customers’ engineers. The design may involve mechanical, electrical, or pneumatic systems, and core platform focus on aluminum extrusion product offering. Each level builds upon technical and leadership skills to support the team's overall success.

Materials Team, Sales Team, Engineering Team, Operations Team, Customers
Key Responsibilities
Assist with taking a system concept/quote and turning it into a fully designed system with bill of materials, design drawings, and supporting details.
Use SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and EPLAN to produce control panel mechanical layouts and electrical schematic designs.
Convert SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or EPLAN drawings for use on a Perforex enclosure modification machine.
Validate and verify build specifications, ensuring compliance with industry standards. Maintain product knowledge across mechanical, electrical, robotic, and motion control product families.
Use Microsoft Office suite effectively (Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and other business software.
Record and track project tasks, performing effective project management and prioritizing multiple assignments.
Help resolve manufacturing issues by working closely with production teams.
Interface directly with customers to gather design information required to develop solutions meeting their requirements.
Non‑Routine Work & Additional Tasks
Use SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and quoter tools to generate mechanical aluminum extrusion designs, bills of materials, and project quotes.
Provide timely and accurate responses to technical customer requests for quote.
Assist in performing peer design reviews.
Obtain UL 508a MTR Certification to serve as local on‑site representative for UL compliance questions.
Assist Inside Sales and Business Development Managers in developing scope of work and initial bill of materials estimates for project quotes.
Develop sales and engineering aptitude, relationship building skills, and applications experience.

Qualifications & Experience
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
Experience
1+ years of experience in engineering or related field.
