Position Summary
The Social Media & Marketing Manager leads the external communications and marketing efforts for AIA|DC and the Washington Architectural Foundation. This role is responsible for social media storytelling strategy, graphic design, digital marketing, and brand consistency across platforms.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Manager collaborates closely with program staff to promote initiatives, engage diverse audiences, and elevate the organizations’ public presence.

Key Responsibilities

Develop social media and external relations strategy for an association and cultural non-profit that work closely with each other

Manage and grow social media platforms for both organizations; evaluate and recommend new channels as appropriate

Develop audience segmentation strategies and manage CRM systems, including Mailchimp

Write and distribute regular newsletters tailored to various audiences using storytelling and campaigns

Act as a press and external relations contact

Oversee, update, and enhance organizational websites to ensure content is current, engaging, and well-structured

Attend events (including occasional evenings and weekends) to capture photography and create content

Manage event ticketing platforms and support program promotion

Design marketing materials, branding assets, and graphics using tools such as Photoshop and Canva

Coordinate and manage external design consultants

Support additional marketing and communications initiatives as needed

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required

Minimum of four years of experience in social media, marketing, and graphic design in an association, cultural non-profit, or other related field

Experienced in creating marketing and social media strategies and implementing them using organizational tools

Have a design point of view, and is continuously open to evolving it

Strong graphic design skills with a keen eye for visual storytelling

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to develop a strong voice

Experience creating and managing digital content across platforms

Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

Detail‑oriented with a high level of accuracy

Collaborative, adaptable team player

Interest in architecture, design, the built environment, and the cultural landscape of Washington, DC

Compensation & Benefits
This is a full‑time, onsite position with weekday hours and occasional evening and weekend commitments. Salary is $70,000-90,000, depending on experience, with a comprehensive benefits package.
