Business Development Associate
The Business Development Associate is responsible for identifying and recruiting qualified companies to join group captive insurance programs. This role blends consultative sales, risk management education, and relationship‑building with middle‑market business owners and executives.

Primary Responsibilities

Identify and prospect qualified businesses for group captive insurance programs.

Develop referral relationships with insurance brokers, consultants, and advisors.

Educate prospective clients on captive insurance concepts, including risk sharing and long‑term cost benefits.

Analyze prospect eligibility based on financials, loss history, and risk profile.

Present captive program structures and value propositions to decision‑makers.

Guide prospects through the evaluation and onboarding process.

Collaborate with underwriting, actuarial, and service teams.

Maintain a pipeline of opportunities and meet production goals.

Attend industry events, conferences, and networking functions.

Follow established company workflows, procedures, and quality standards to support operational consistency.

Participate in team and departmental meetings to support collaboration and continuous improvement initiatives.

Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned by leadership.

Job Requirements & Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management or related field. (New College Graduates accepted)

A minimum of two years’ experience in sales, insurance, or financial services preferred.

Understanding of commercial insurance or alternative risk structures is beneficial.

Exposure to insurance systems, CRM tools, or operational reporting tools is helpful.

Strong analytical and presentation skills

Ability to build relationships with executives and advisors

Financial and risk analysis aptitude

Self‑motivated and goal oriented

Effective written and verbal communication skills when interacting with internal teams, agents, and clients.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office

Professionalism and strong client service orientation when supporting internal and external stakeholders.

Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced team environment.

Willingness to learn insurance systems, operational processes, and industry practices.

Strong ethical standards and commitment to maintaining confidentiality of client and company information.

Ability and willingness to travel as needed.

Work from Home Requirements

An internet connection, via cable or fiber, that can support 300Mbps down and 10Mbps up.

A wired (Ethernet) connection to the internet is preferred for best performance.

A workstation, desk, or table that is ergonomically suitable for the employee's physical needs, (standing, sitting, etc.). This workspace must support two, 24" displays, a laptop, docking station, keyboard, and mouse, at minimum.

Teleworkers must be reachable while teleworking during the employee's regularly scheduled hours. Methods of communication include email account, voice calls, and messages using company-issued iPhone, Microsoft Office Teams, and other appropriate department tools and equipment. It is expected that teleworkers will attend all virtual scheduled meetings with their cameras on as much as possible. Additionally, any calls and/or voicemails will be answered in a timely manner.
