Duration: Part Time


KOAT, the ABC affiliate in Albuquerque, New Mexico is looking for a well-rounded Contributing Editor who will create content for our station's newscasts,  website, mobile products and social media platforms. You will be an excellent storyteller and can edit and create content facing intense competition under constant deadline pressure. You will report to the News Director.

Responsibilities

  • Produce feature stories for the station newscasts,  website, mobile and social media pages
  • Meet posting requirements for website, social videos, push alerts, and graphics
  • Write compelling headlines and push alerts  
  • Work with news management to ensure content is reviewed and posted in a timely manner
  • Work with Producers, Assignment Editors and Managers to ensure cross promotion of content across all platforms
  • Contribute ideas to help grow the station's digital platforms

 

Requirements

  • Previous on-camera work and digital editing experience
  • Professional experience with non-linear editing software (Adobe Premiere or equivalent)
  • News and editorial judgment
  • Excellent AP writing skills
  • Basic knowledge of Photoshop and video editing
  • Experience with social media best practices
  • Flexibility to work different shifts, holidays on short notice to cover a 24-hour news cycle
  • Work well in an environment with frequent interruptions
  • Related military experience will be considered
  • In-person attendance is required
